Overall this was a relaxing stay of 2 nights. I had 'Ducks Nest' eco cabin for myself. While it was a joy to wake up to red squirrels outside the window and sit and watch them and deer via the verande, I do feel the feature made of the 'wildfowl pond' is a little misleading. The pond is a new... More

Thank you for your feedback Alan; we are of course disappointed that you should have found fault with some aspects of your stay at The Duck's Nest. We imagine you must have reflected further on your stay while travelling home as, on departure, you were assuring JC our manager that you were looking forward to making a return visit, next... More

I stayed in Lazy Duck Hostel for 2 nights and it was just unique experience. I simply felt like in a fairy tale. The hostel was rather small but there was everything one might need for nice and comfortbale stay. I heartily recommend to all romantic souls and backpackers.

Lazy Duck is a great place, in a beautiful part of the country. The hostel and campsite has everything you need and more. The only downside to it was the constant rules and being checked up on - even when we were in our beds at 745am. I noticed in another post this was the case too, and it wasn't... More

Oh Alan! How could you? The same Alan who wrote in our Visitors' Book ....... " great facilities and will be back" True you complained about rules but your suggestion about being visited at 7.45 am is simply preposterous. Look please at other reviews and you will see that apart from a very, very few our Team including the Owners... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in the hostel. Most beautiful setting within woodland and a very cute hostel, so peaceful. Had everything we needed - kitchen fully kitted out. The staff were lovely and always there to help if you needed. Everything really clean, and particularly liked the sleeping pouches.. Surrounded by little woodland creatures - even saw a red... More

We stayed in the Woodman's Hut for 6 nights, and they were the bests ever! We had a wonderful stay, loved having no electricity, no real running water (It was January, so everything was frozen). I espacially loved the evening in front of the fire reading books and just talking to my boyfriends and drinking a glass of red wine.... More

Rarely does a review quite capture the vision that The Woodman's Hut was made for you AND you for the hut. Many, many thanks for sharing your experience. Our team is thrilled. David & Team Lazy Duck More

Had a lovely stay, the hostel had everything you could expect and lots more, too nice to be called a hostel. We enjoyed walks to the castle. The hottub experience was amazing, and staff all seemed lovely. Wouldn't dream of marking the place down for it as it wasn't that big of a deal but there was a lot of rules.I travel... More

Thank you for your appreciations and helpful observations. It's a shame you felt a bit overpowered by the hospitality and modest arrangements to ensure guests get the most out of their stay and enjoy their visit. What we suspect has happened here is that our young and enthusiastic International Volunteer Summer Helpers may just have burdened you with too much... More

My boyfriend drove us to Aviemore (Nethy Bridge) for three nights here. Stayed in the stunning "woodman's hut". Extremely beautifully constructed, completely immersed in nature - looking up at the stars through the skylight. Self catered, for warm cosy, isolated nights in with a loved one, with a log burning stove and candles. The shower and toilet are not for... More

You're spot on here. Jed sings of being 'right where I wanna be'; more to do with the love and friends around him than with anything material. Maybe these values reveal themselves between couples who stay tucked up in The Woodman's Hut and all Lazy Duck. Hope so. Thanks for prodding us into a more than usual thoughtful reply David... More
