We have just returned from a wonderful 5 days at the Lazy Duck, staying in the hostel. It's superbly situate near Nethy Bridge, on the edge of forest, with views of the Cairngorms that are to die for. There is so much to do in the area for all types of Highland holiday, be it sightseeing or activity-based. The hostel... More

My partner and I stayed at the lazy duck for 3 nights in May 2015- we had an absolute fantastic time "just chilling". You don't realise how Little you actually stop or how little You need until you arrive. It's taken this long to find the time to write a review ( clearly need to go back). Just watching the... More

We stayed in the woodmans hut for two nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and words cannot describe what a magical place this is. The wood fired steaming hot tub on a very dark starry night with a heavy sparkling frost setting in all around and the air heavy with pine trees is unforgettable. Don't miss the open sky... More

I have been visiting the Lazy Duck since I was a child with my family and have always had the most wonderful of experiences here. I didn't think I could love the place any more than I did, but then the Ducks Nest came along. My partner and I have enjoyed two visits here now, one last Easter and have... More

We stayed here as the last leg of a tour round Scotland to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We stayed in various B & Bs and hotels, but the Woodman's Hut was our absolute favourite. We've camped for many years and have recently gone in for a bit of glamping. The cabin is excellent. It has everything you need to... More

Great; thanks so much. When seasoned outdoor folk like yourselves give us the thumbs up we know we have earned it. Glad you discovered just how much a good night's sleep can be had in the Hebridean box bed. The were to be found in most houses in the Western & Northern Isles of Scotland in the days when wall... My husband and I stayed in the Woodsman's Hut for two nights during our honeymoon. It was even lovelier than we had imagined having looked at the excellent website. Perfect for a romantic break, the woodsman's hut is secluded from the rest of the hostel, with the most beautiful view of the mountains. We woke early to find deer right... More

You are very generous with your kind comment on our place and our people. Happily, what you have discovered is that a short step away from the gentle wooded cluster of hostel, Duck's Nest, 4 pitch lightweight camping and those of us who live here with the ducks, hens and sheep is the enviable comparative solitude offered by The Woodman's... Such a relaxing place. Owners and staff very welcoming and helpful. Also love the owners dog, sat with our group half the night. My 2nd visit (a few of my pals 3rd visit). Our group had a brilliant time as usual. Most definatley will be back. Cannot think of a downside to this place. Just love the place. A few... More

So that's where the dog went! You must have bribed him with your barbie; hope you didn't give him any beer cos he'd already had some from the campers - only joking. Great to read that your 3rd return visit was as good as ever for you all. Thanks and we'll look out for you again sometime after the wedding.... More

Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the Ducks Nest at the beginning of July. It was definitely one of the most relaxing places I have ever been and the girl who showed us around at the start of our stay was brilliant. Also the Ducks Nest has the comfiest bed ever! My only minor criticism would be that it is... More

Thanks you two for the thunderingly positive review of your stay and the contribution to it made by our international volunteer helpers. Good to know also that your experience of the bed comfort echoes that of others who love it. On the Hot Tub costs, you have a point and we will make it more clear on the website just... More

We visited The Lazy Duck last weekend based on reviews from TA and chose to stay in The Duck's Nest. It really is a unique, quirky and cosy retreat away from the usual busy life! We were welcomed by one of the volunteers and showed around the whole place. The ducks are amazing! We paid for some fresh duck eggs... More

Thanks folks from the ducks. They enjoyed your company too and are grateful for your top rating for their eggs. Also, our industrious volunteers are mighty pleased to get a mention. That was kind of you. David & Team Lazy Duck More

Beautiful setting and helpful staff who are always about if you need them. We hired the hostel privately for 7 people and it was lovely. The area to sit out and bbq and eat was fab especially since we had a thunder storm with huge hail. Kids loved feeding the ducks in the morning and playing at the swings. Nice... More

Thanks so much Fiona and the gang. Good to know everyone here pulled the rabbits out of the hat for you and that Lazy Duck was good news for you all. No extra charge either for hailstones in July you notice. Quite a rarity - so far! All the best, David & Team Lazy Duck More
