We booked the Ducks Nest cabin at the lazy duck about 11 months ago and then forgot about it as it was so long away. We have just got back from a truly fantastic few days there, and the trip is going down as one of the best trips we have done in the UK, without doubt!! This is a... More

We are so glad the visit was worth the wait, even if you had put the thought of it on the back burner! If six acres can constitute an 'estate' then you have it right. In the forty one years we have been here trees have been planted, some naturally regenerated, the watercourse changed to allow for two sheets of... More

I decided to head up to the Cairngorms for a bit of cycle training before a big sportif in August. Stumbled across the Lazy Duck online and thought I'd give it a go. It was amazing. I left after 2 nights incredibly chilled and after racking up a fair few miles on the bike. The area is incredibly beautiful and... More

Mountain, trail, road and hybrid bikes all welcome here as well as various attachments for carrying the kids. Glad Adam that you feel you can recommend Scotland and its residents; there will always be an open door for such as you so haste ye back. By the way we ask folk to move their tent for the fourth night. You... More

My partner and I visited the Lazy Duck for a birthday treat. We have been to many different glamping, Eco style breaks but this was really something. We stayed in the Woodmans Hut which I would recommend as it felt more private than the other accommodation and had stunning views of the Cairngorms and also the woods. We loved the... More

You are right. In challenging weather such as the wonderfully crisp temperatures which accompanied your visit the Woodman's Hut, we are told time and again, is absolute dream living 'in the sticks' while being as warm as toast and riveted by the views So glad it hit the spot for you both. My partner and I stayed at the Ducks Nest for 3 nights as part of her 50th Birthday Adventure. The Ducks Nest Cabin is awesome, with a fantastic little log burner to keep warm and the most comfortable bed imaginable. There is a friendly red squirrel that feeds just outside the bedroom window, and a red robin and of course... More

It's called, 'Going the Extra Mile' and thank you so much for the appreciations. International Volunteers, over seventy of them in ten years, local housekeepers, Kinga, Lucka and Laura, duck boy Chay, managers JC & Jo and Lazy Duck Originals, David & Valery together with Django and the ducks all do our best to earn the kind of super comment... The best small campsite in the Cairngorms. Exceptional ducks. Friendly people. Ideal size. Cute squirrels. Happy deer. Happy children. Beautiful location. Great hot-tub. Perfect swings. Awesome shower. Thank you.

That's really kind. The camping ground here wins with lots of folk just because, with four lightweight pitches only, it is small. It does have the oh! so welcome eating and relaxing Campers' Shelter should the weather be unkind and yet the chimenea open woodstoves cheer up any evening round the fire. And as you say, the wild life comes... More

Having stayed at the Woodman's Hut for my 40th a few years ago, we always wanted to return with the kids to stay strong the hostel- and that's just what we did this half term week! It was even more beautiful than we remembered, thanks to all the amazing Autumn colours.. And this time there was even a hot tub... More

Well, you folks certainly made the best of the Lazy Duck. We often find ourselves saying the hostel can be 'a mountain hut' or 'a playhouse' - you choose. With your really interested Kids helping out with the ducks and then hearing their squeals of happiness from the hot tub we guessed you all had gone away happy. Great! David... More

Stayed at the Woodman's Hut last week (previously stayed at the hostel) with my husband for his 30th - quite an adventure for someone not used to the great outdoors! The hut is fabulous, the box bed with stargazing window and amazing views to the mountains, and wood burning stove are highlights! The outdoor bush shower was actually quite enjoyable... More

Thanks so much folks. Quite a few guests try all four of what Lazy Duck has to offer:- huts, hostel and camping. We are glad you found the Woodman's Hut suited you just fine on this visit. Meanwhile, Autumn and the riotous colours it heralds in the birch, aspen and larch trees here have them some days gently trembling and... More

We have just returned from our eleventh visit to the Lazy Duck hostel having booked for next year before we left. And what makes this a perennial favourite destination for us inveterate and veteran hill-walkers? Well the stunning scenery on the doorstep for one; the friendly and efficient staff for another; the accommodation in this compact space is comfortable; but... More
