This is a true gem. It is a little bit hidden, but worth while, just follow your TomTom's directions. Ed and Nel are excellent hosts. The rooms have everything you need. Big towels, great bed etc. The breakfast is also great. A nice living room to relax. The next best thing to being at home.

Annual pilgrimage to Alness for Salmon fishing. Thought we would try here on a recommendation. Wasn't disappointed, hotel was spotless in a beautiful setting by the water. Nel and Ed were first class hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was well cooked and on time and the room was beautifully appointed (room 2). Would happily stay here again next... More

I stayed here on the 8th September and would unreservedly recommend it - the location outside Evanton is beautiful and peaceful - overlooking the Cromaty Firth. The house is a former Manse and tastefully decorated and clearly Ed and Nel work very hard at ensuring it is presented immaculately. The single room I stayed in was excellent - with great... More

Great place, people and location. Rooms are nice and comfortable, every morning you are greeted with a different salutation from Nel. Both warm and friendly owners who see to your every need, including some great advice on what is in the area.

We have stayed with Nel & Ed four times now and have enjoyed every visit tremendously. They are brilliant hosts, friendly, warm and take such pride in how they look after you. We didn't manage to get there last year and regretted not travelling that far up on our biking trip. This year we really looked forward to the return... More

Many thanks to hosts Ed & Nel for creating such a delightful oasis. I stayed for only one night, but definitely would stay longer the next chance I have. The house was lovely, full of charm and character, and even my modest room (I was in the "Double" overlooking the farmland toward the old church) felt spacious and luxurious because... More

We had wanted a base from which to explore the area in and around Inverness. Kiltearn house was an exceptional find. The house was close to the A9, taking only a 10 minute drive, but it felt like we were tucked in far more the bustle of the city. It is only 20 minutes or so to Inverness, and had... More

Stayed as a solo traveller. Owners were wonderful. Location is superb. Facilities and amenities excellent. Even got a hug from Lady of the Manse on my departure. Cannot fault this in any way. Breakfast was great. Dining room superb outlook. Enjoyed watching the birds, rabbits and hybrid wild cat! Plenty of plug sockets in room, a must for tablets, phones... More

There is nothing to add to PERFECT is there ? Beautiful house. Spotlessly clean. Great location, great food. Perfect local produce used for meals, perfectly cooked. Great proprietors. Wonderful hospitality. If all this sounds too good to be true I will criticise one thing. The power shower in my bathroom could have had a bit more zooomph to it !... More

We used Kiltearn House as a stopover for a short business trip to this Highlands area. We really loved the house and would like to live there ourselves! The location is beautiful and peaceful with views across the water and surrounding countryside, ensuring a very peaceful night's sleep. The bed and pillows are good quality and very comfortable, rooms are... More
