I say "surprising" because the hotel is rather old and tired and the restaurant is a bit barn like. So surroundings not brilliant but the food and service were. There was just one girl doing both the drinks behind the bar and taking orders and serving the food in the restaurant. She did a sterling job and was good humoured... More

When having to make an unexpected journey by car to Dingwall to collect a family member due to public transport being disrupted by bad weather, I called into the hotel late evening for a breather before continuing my journey home. We were made most welcome and was delighted to be served with a mincemeat pie with my cup of tea... More

Stayed one night on business trip. The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff are super friendly and can't do enough for you. Ate in the restaurant and very happy with the meal and again great service. All in all a very enjoyable stay and I would certainly stay again and recommend to others. I felt like one of... More

This hotel is situated in a small village about 1/2 hour from Inverness Airport. The rooms are a little outdated however the staff were very welcoming making sure your every need is met. The food was amazing and very sizable portions, safe to say you will not go hungry! There are 3 bars within the hotel itself, one for the... More

Have only ever had a meal in the National hotel so my review is based on the food and service! I have visited several times and have not had a bad meal yet , the staff are courteous and efficient and the food is good from a varied menu also reasonably priced. Dingwall has very few traditional Scottish eateries and... More

Our tour group of about 24 cruised (bus) into Dingwall about 7pm on June 14th. We were tired and our rooms were ready of course. Dingwall and the National Hotel were delightful. The hotel is situated on the site where old stable buildings have been since the 10th century. Dingwall is an old Viking burgh. A lot of history here,... More

I booked the National hotel for a work trip to Dingwall. On arrival, I admired the Victorian frontage but was bitterly disappointed with what lay behind the facade. The reception area had litter inside the hallway, threadbare dirty carpets with dusty footprints from workmens' shoes and was grim. I checked into Room 111 and for £59 for B&B it was... More

Reception lady was brilliant, done all she could to help. Downside was music playing from bar until after 5am. Long journey tomorrow and no sleep, grumpy review. Rooms clean and well presented. No fault with hotel only with music banging all night long.

We have had several meals at this hotel and not had a bad experience yet. Although the decor may be a little dated, the service was always efficient, well presented and good value. Well worth a visit if anyone is in the area.

this is a small good hotel in Dingwall. Its a value for money in that village. It has everything that you will need in a hotel. Its clean, with good wifi connection and a proper Scottish breakfast and generally Scottish food.
