I have just returned from Thainstone house hotel, I stayed for the weekend. The hotel was elegant and to get to the reception was a grand stairway, the hotel was very unique with the old furniture that suited it perfectly . The room was modern compared to other surroundings, it was excellent and spotless . There was a spa which... More

We recently visited for a six course tasting menu offer and really enjoyed the food. Good quality, tasty and well presented. The setting was lovely, nice cosy sitting rooms and the restaurant was comfortable. The only thing that let it down was the service which is a real shame as we were the first ones in to start with and... More

My friend and I went for a 2 night spa weekend to treat ourselves and we're not disappointed! There was a wedding on the first night we were there so it was busy and loud but enjoyable seeing all the guests in their finery. Only downside was that our room was well placed to hear the ceilidh going on til... More

We had a really lovely stay here. It was relaxing, well located, quiet, spacious, clean and tidy. The staff was helpful and friendly, nothing was too much, including adding an extra member to our party. The afternoon tea was delicious and served warm fresh scones. The bar served huge well priced portions of fresh food. The restaurant had an Al... More

Good luck on finding a member of staff to help! Although the hotel rooms and public areas are of a good standard the 'spa' is in need of some serious upgrading. When we did find staff most were friendly and willing to help. 20 minutes to receive your coffee at breakfast and that's before you were 'allowed' to place your... More

Stayed here with a friend for 2 days while visiting nearby Aberdeen. Member of staff told us the hotel has been recently decorated in keeping with the age of the hotel. Very friendly staff, helpful with information about local area. Had a double bedroom and it was spotless throughout. Really comfortable bed and plenty space for clothes etc. Lovely bathroom... More

I agree with most comments on here that the building and grounds are remarkable. What seriously, I mean seriously let's this place down is the poor staffing levels, even on a busy wedding night...not enough staff to run both bars, next night was very quiet and still not enough staff, waited for over 15 minutes at either bar before going... I stayed at this hotel last weekend. There was a wedding on and at first everything seemed okay. As the night progressed it became obvious it was going to be very noisy. I got woke up various times throughout the night. I complained to the hotel manager the following day and he apologised and took on my comments. Another reason... More
