Like a growing amount of people we turn to trip advisor before making that important choice in accomodation, I do not usually post reviews as I believe we are all individually looking for something different but on this I feel the negative reviews are cruel and injust. Phil was one of the most friendly owners we have every came across... More

We booked the apartment for £60 but when we arrived we were told it was not available due to drainage issues and were put in another room which i later found out was £5 cheaper a night, we were not offered any money back and when i emailed the hotel asking politely for the £5 to be refunded i got... We travel the UK extensively and have never had such an awful experience as this. The hotel's online system somehow allowed us to book and pay for the same room twice, rather than two separate rooms. The hotel staff didn't take any initiative to make us aware of this in advance of our arrival. Fortunately we called ahead to make... More

Booked last minute on a Saturday morning. Didn't know what to expect but we knew it was in high town. Parking was a little tough due to the market that takes over the car park. Entered through the pub which 1st impressions is oldyworldy Rock pub. Sat and had a drink with the friendly locals before being shown to our... More

The old saying of you get what you pay for is usually true, but not in this case. Sure its cheap at only £50 for a 3 bedded room, but its just not worth it, then we find out they charged us £60.On arrival we met with half a dozen loud drunk locals who kept asking if we were rich,... More

We stayed over the last Steam Rail way Gala weekend, and Loved the Cottage 26! A Friend Booked for us when he booked it and we thought we probably get a room by the Pub but to our pleasant surprise we got the Cottage which is very very nice! the only down side to it is the stairs! going down... I met up with some friends for lunch here during the summer break. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very polite. I will definitely be going again soon. The pub garden was brilliant and there were activities to keep the children entertained while us adults enjoyed lovely home cooked food. I will be recommending The Bear Inn to my friends.

Nice room & great location. Was surprised to find was not open when we arrivedat 11.30, and that the owners left site at about 6pm and were not on site from 11.30 pmonwards. So can't comment on the hosts as didn't see them, so think rather unfriendly. Noisy revellers passing by after 1am didn't help the sleep, In the morning... More

Hi Thank you for your review but what a shame you have made a judgement that we are unfriendly and yet you say you haven't met us! You would have met us as we start work at about 7.30 am and we continue throughout the day until we have had no customers for a considerable amount of time. We were... More

Our room was some sort of conversion from a garage/stable/storehouse crammed full of old shabby furniture and ornaments and the bed was uncomfortable too. I felt like the elderly parents had been moved out for the night so that we could have their room. We were led through the pub via the gardens to our room in the afternoon but... More

You stayed in The Original Brewery which is full of character which obviously you are not! It is decorated very tastefully, in our and the opinion of others! More

I stayed in a twin room here mid July, mid-week, on arrival we enjoyed a drink in the beer garden which has reasonable cover in case of showers. The room was clean and we had everything we needed, plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits & water. The only gripe about the room was the bathroom was a bit small, when stood... More
