We stayed here as we attended a birthday party in the hotel. Other than its superb location for the town and beautiful setting on the river bank, I can't find one positive comment to make about this hotel. The outside and decor is drab, tired and out of date; if swags and tails are your thing you'll appreciate the 80s... More

A very popular place to eat, drink and stay overnight. A great location by the river to have some drinks with friends on a summers afternoon. Prices aren't too bad but it's a shame about the very average service by the bar staff. It looked as though they wanted to be else where. It was very busy as could be... More

Well, we were very impressed with our room and the view from it over the river was quite lovely. We had room number 62 which is a disabled room. We were asked if we were ok with that and we were happy to take it. I don't know how anyone in a wheelchair could use the shower though as it... More

My husband & I married here on 12th June 2015 - & it was an amazing day had by all. The comments we received about how lovely it looked & how yummy the food was were 5* from all & the staff were friendly & very helpful, we would definitely recommend The Dolphin to anyone for a venue or even... Really good value this place. Was well received at reception which was professional and smooth, a little dated inside but adds to its charm, food was excellent plenty to eat and very good quality and wholesome. Had lovely room with lovely views. Was clean and well maintained. Slept really well which is rare. Cant fault the location absolutely beautiful, Abundance... More

This is our second time we have visited with family having a lunch at "The Dolphin Hotel", St.Ives.Cambs. The surroundings are good with nice views across the river & fields in the dining room. Sadly the meal is disappointing. The Carvery is well laid out BUT, the vegetables need to be cooked better, the Beef I had on both visits... More

Stayed here whilst visiting relatives close-by. Good location, restaurant and bar, spoilt by the small, very basic room - we supposedly had executive room. As an older retired couple found it difficult to carry cases from car, along corridors, along outdoor pathways and then up 2 sets of stairs, compounded by it raining at the time. No help available. No... More

We went here for a meal. The weather was perfect so the river location was beautiful and enhanced the experience greatly. We got our requested window seat. Food was OK. Hearty portions but a little lacking in finesse. The choice is mainly British fayre and a little lacking in inspiration. Those that chose gammon got enormous portions ( too much).... More

My family have stayed at this hotel and report the rooms to be shabby, the showers never work properly and the general decor is plain, tired and seems stuck in the 1980's. The carvery is OK but, the restaurant always seems half empty and place lacks atmosphere. Seems popular with older folks. Weddings also a regular feature, I guess because... More

Hello I am so sorry to read your review. Your absolutely correct that we are currently under going a refurbishment programme in some of our bedrooms however I dont understand how you can comment that we are using the same old fashioned decor style as the area we are refurbishing isnt accesible to the general public yet as its still... We booked a table in advance (12.15pm) for a Saturday buffet lunch. Requested a table overlooking the river and the historic St Ives bridge which was allocated. Good start. Drinks order taken and served quickly. Then on to the buffet choice. Was an excellent selection. Five individual dishes to choose from or the roast of the day. Generous portions served... More
