The ride up the mountain on a narrow winding road during the day was a little nerve wracking - I can't imagine doing it at night. Once you arrive though, the cumbersome ride was worth it. The property is BEAUTIFUL and historical. If there isn't a tour available, be sure to ask for the self-guided tour brochure. We loved touring... More

The parador is beautifully remodeled and the setting of the former monastery in the Sil river valley is simply amazing. I wished we'd had more time to spend there. Our room and the service were both fabulous. We got a really good deal on room and half board directly from the parador website, probably because it was off season. With... More

Breathtaking surroundings for this wonderful restored old monestery. Loved our special room and views and enjoyed the mix of the historical and the new. Great breakfast choices. loved the reataurant setting which served good food. The little forest at the back that you get to through the cafeteria, was a great outdoor space for a picnic. Better still, find the... More

Have been staying in Paradors for close on three weeks when we arrived at Parador de Santo Estevo, if this building doesn't take your breath away, you have a problem. They have transformed a beautiful Middle Ages Monastery into a modern hotel without taking away any of the original facade. The country vistas are incredible, walks, river cruises, wine tours,... Such a beautiful place. Returning after a couple of years it has not lost any of it's beauty. We enjoyed it for two days. The room, overlooking the central courtyard, was spacious, the bathroom too. Dining was excellent, staff very pleasant. Breakfast is good, the only slight point of criticism is that the bar has no outdoor tables. Let that... More

This parador has been recently converted from an old monastery. The conversion has been done with taste to provide large modern rooms up to (and probably exceeding) the best of the parador chain. Yes, it rains. A lot. But there are so many comfortable lounges and armchairs in the corridors that relaxing with a good book is a pleasure in... More

This former monastery is off the beaten track, well worth the drive to get here. The building has been beautifully restored with modern boutique hotel rooms, much more contemporary than other paradores I have been to. The setting too is spectacular and there is a lovely, though small, spa. Nice restaurant and a very good breakfast. One I'd like to... More

If you are seeking a Parador with a breath-taking view, this is the spot. Located on the top of the mountains surrounding Ourense, the solitude and quiet will invigorate you. We stayed here three nights, with friends, while on a two-week visit to Spain.. It is a great location if to plan to visit Santiago de Compostela, which is a... More

This is a gorgeous spot (near the gorge...), a beautiful (and VERY out of the way) setting, beautiful buildings, beautifully restored and updated. Restaurant was excellent, as was the service. It is a bit hard to get to, as it is a top a mountain, but definitely worth it. A highlight!

This was our first visit to this Parador and we were very impressed with the free parking – there is a drop off area to unload outside the hotel then free underground parking. We were greeted by Victor on reception who was very thorough and helpful. The hotel is beautiful with a lovely quadrangle with a tree with fairy lights... More
