Loved this hotel, superb room, great views, fabulous decor in and around including the museum and self guided tour of the Monastery and Chapel. This is not even expensive but superb value. Restaurant too was very good and good value considering the location and the great ambience of the dining hall. Would love to return anytime - make use of... More

Its sometimes great to have a historical monument close to your hotel, but at Sata Estevo you actually get to stay in one. The hotel is housed in a monastery thats been heavily restored. Most of the hotel is open to the public for visits, although it would take someone faily dedicated to make the trip up the mountain road... More

This Parador is way out in the middle of nowhere. Despite Brittany Ferries saying it was well signposted, it wasn't. It has a very interesting history and lots of people visit it for that reason. However (there always seems to be an 'however' in my reviews) to start with, you can get a map which directs you all over the... More

This is one of my favorite paradors ever! It's in a Benedictine Monastery that was rebuilt in the 12th century and has 3 amazing cloisters...we felt like we were lords of the mountain! The long, winding road up to it was well worth the drive to get to see and stay at this breath-taking place! Be sure to take the... More

The drive seems to take forever but it is worth it , the setting is stunning . Room had a great view and the silence save the birds was lovely . Took advantage of the spa which was excellent . The parador is furnished in a contemporary and classy style , a bold move from what you would usually find... More

This romantic parador is tucked up in the woods... and is worth the drive. Don't judge it by the looks when you are in the parking lot. The rooms that look over the canyon have a great view, and catch a wonderful breeze, and are quite comfortable. The bar has a limited but adequate menu, and the dining room is... More

Great parador in an old monastery - modern interior of glass, steel and lots of beautiful wood make this a spectacular restoration. Our room overlooked the edge of the gorge, nothing but woods, amazingly peaceful. We had dinner in the restaurant looking out at more woods - food and wine excellent. The staff were very helpful, although the reception seemed... More

The Spanish parador system keeps turning up gems. This restored monastery is incredibly atmospheric, you can spend hours just looking around its courtyards (with art exhibition) and adjacent chapel. The rooms themselves are large and sensitively modernised, so you get the best of both worlds. Location is remote and peaceful. One thing they should advertise more is the miles of... More

We stayed here in October, then changed plans on our trip and returned in November for a few days. This is a delightful spot, welcoming folks for centuries. Our standard room was more than adequate, the views from the windows (six in the room) terrific, the food average plus, the staff helpful and mostly very gracious.

It´s a very special place in many ways: the restoration and adaptation work done in this historic monument is excellent, the situation in the Ribeira Sacra very special and the service quality offered is outstanding. The personnel are attentive and warm. A very good restaurant that serves huge portions of excellent food, with a beautiful view overlooking the mountains. Beeing... More
