II went back last July to Porto Moniz and stayed again at Moniz Sol for 4 nights. The staff remembers me since last year and it was like going back home! The location is perfect to explore the north-west part of the island, which is wilder and much less visited than ha south east part. The hotel is a very... More

We stayed here in late March and found it hard to fault the hotel. We received a warm welcome and the staff in the hotel and restaurant maintained a friendly and helpful attitude throughout. The rooms were relatively spacious, bright and modern, all had a sea view. The public areas around the lobby/ bar were comfy with lots of sofas... More

There is not much to do in Porto Moniz but to see the lava pools is worth going. Also worth going for total relaxation. I went in October and it was quiet, not too hot and therefore relaxing. The hotel is great, super staff, very friendly, excellent location and it offers two great sundecks where, when the sun is out,... More

Stayed two nights to do some seawatching (seabirds) at this end of the island, our room on 3rd floor was well placed to watch from the balcony, but only in afternoon as too bright in am(though good if you're after the sun!). Breakfasts good though fruit 'juice' wasn't, which seemed a cheap touch given the excess of other stuff on... More

By continental standard it will be 3 star not 4, but 3 full star! And an absolute great value for money. Rooms are spacious and the balcony have a great view of the cost. Ask for one on 2nd or 3rd floor. The mattress are so-so and pillows are so small and flat that looks like pillows for a baby... More

Good hotel close to the acquarium and rest of Porto Moniz. The hotel might not live up fully to the four stars however for us the staff made up for this. They gave us very good advise on tours (boat trip to see whales, turtles etc.) and the restaurant is great. No gourmet food but we really enjoyed it and... More

Nice Hotel, with no big luxury. Pool (cold water), jacuzzi (nice) and sauna (nice). Good breakfast with usual stuff. ASk for advice to employees for tours or levadas. Just next to the natural swimming pools (walking distance). Parking may be an issue but some 200/300 m away there is free parking.

Excellent hotel in Porto Moniz. Good location Rooms size is big enough, beds are pretty good. Breakfast and restaurant are excellent. Nothing really bad to say, just a pity that there is no wireless internet available in the rooms. The hotel doesn't look very trendy on the outside, but i really don't care.

We stayed in this hotel for a triathlon competition, and it was the best location we could choose, just in front of transition park. The hotel is small but nice. Staff is also nice. They say they have gym, but is a small sample of a gym :-) The swimming pool has cold water but it was nice to swim... More
