We took three rooms at Poggio ai Merli residence; each room was spacious and stylish with high ceilings. We only stayed there 3 days; looking back, I wish we had stayed longer. We had guest with us who had travelled far more than we had – they all said how beautiful this place was and congratulated me for choosing this... More

We would like to second all the positive reviews already written. It seems as if we could not have picked a better location for our holiday: a real Tuscan villa like in the movies with olive and cyprus trees, a 15-minute train ride away from downtown Florence, with very hospitable and friendly owners. We are already planning a return next... More

We planned 3 days on the spot but ended up with 7 days. The location is absolutely fantastic. The staff are incredible. Breakfast is very nice. The swimmingpool is clean and the best place to be in a hot afternoon. Everything about this place is so nice and we will return next year.

This was absolute heaven. The villa and the setting are fantastically beautiful, our room was enormous & beautifully done, the swimming pool is wonderful. Verena, her brother and all the staff were charming & so friendly, and particular thanks to Verena who was helpful beyond measure, organising delivery from the local takeaway so we could have lunch by the pool,... This place is really nice, the staff is friendly, the view is amazing and the location is out of a dream. I would recommend this place for a nice relaxing summer vacation in Tuscany. The setting could not be more romantic the people could not be nicer. A complete 10.

One of the loveliest B&B places I know, where a most comfortable suite awaits you and the owner/managers are most friendly. It is in a quiet and beautiful area but the drive to Florence is not difficult, and the place thus answers most of one;s needs. Also a plus is the number of good restaurants nearby. I cannot understand Kim... More

We had a lovely stay here. Good value- a huge 2 bedroom suite with living room 2 bathrooms and small kitchen. Nice grounds and a good sized pool. Good place to retreat after hectic hot day in Florence. Owners extremely helpful and friendly. Only 3 small suggestions to make: 1. Don't let patrons light fires in old fashioned fireplace. I... If you have a car, stay here. This hotel is peace in Chiantishire. The staff are lovely, kind and considerate, without fawning. The rooms are quiet, large and comfortable. Plus we had a fridge and sink, so could have made better use of our stay. It took us about 20 minutes to reach Florence each day; we parked and ambled... More

This place seems to be run by a brother and sister. The brother (i forget his name) is very friendly and helpful... however the same cannot be said for his sister. That aside it is a very charming villa in a really lovely setting. Close to Florence but far away enough to be in the Tuscan countryside. The drive to... More

You stumble on this place not realising its proximity to Florence. A beautiful villa in lovely surroundings. I booked a double room which comprised an ample bathroom, large double bedroom and a spacious lounge with kitchen facilities - a large fridgefreezer, sink, dishwasher and gas hob. The welcome from the hosts deserves special mention - extremely helpful and friendly -... More
