Cretaiole is more than just a wonderful accommodation in picturesque Tuscany, it is having Isabella, Isabella, Carlo, Luciano and Carlotta treat you as a member of their family. No request is too small or not met. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment that was comfortably furnished. We arrived late at night and were met by Carlotta, who picked fresh salad... More

We stayed there over Christmas week, so our experience was probably a little different to that of most of the Tripadvisor reviewers. ‎There were not as many activities going on that week, as Isabella and Carlo were away. That did not affect our appreciation for the place at all- in fact, it was nice to be able to enjoy the... More

This place is just BEAUTIFUL! Just like the movies. The area which is 5 minutes outside Pienza is the perfect location to relax and is a perfect base for Tuscany. We stayed in apartment 7 for a week. During this time we visited the town of Pienza, hiked through the valley, went horse riding, visited the natural hot springs and... More

In October, we had the good fortune and priviledge to go to Tuscany and stay at Cretaiole for a week. It was truly a fabulous experience. We arrived on Saturday evening and we were greeted by Carlotta, a true gem! She led us to our 4 apartments, and one was lovelier than the other. They were furnished in that Tuscan... More

Isabella has made pici a thousand times. When she and her assistant, Carlotta (more a family member), demonstrated how to make this Tuscan hand-rolled pasta at Cretaiole, Isabella reminded me of an Italian Julia Childs—knowledgeable and entertaining. If you stay at her family’s agriturismo, she may tell you why pici is served with ragù alla bolognese—not pesto! Barbara Ford Doyle... More

I have read reviews about other agriturismo vacation rentals. Even the best of them focus on the room comforts and food served. Cretaiole was outstanding on both counts. But what was truly awesome about our visit were all the opportunities we had to experience some of the joys of living in Tuscany. We spent a week hiking, making pasta, cooking... More

If you want an authentic Tuscan holiday Cretaiole is the place for you. To say that service and location are outstanding would be short this is one of those places which I fully recommend. Although this was our 4th time in Cretaiole there are always new things to do and see. We had an amazing time again as always. We... More

Rick Steves rants and raves about this place. We spent 4 nights here. A tad bit commercial. We were inundated with a list of tours upon arrival! The husband and wife team, Isabella and Carlo, who own and run the farmhouse, are competent and business-like individuals (they even have a range of toiletries made in Switzerland for sale. Samples available... More

We had a wonderful stay at Cretaiole. Can not say enough of how wonderful this family is and how they do everything to make your experience special. Carlotta's tours were fantastic! The accommodations were very comfortable and the countryside was stunning! We will definitely be back in the future!

If you're looking for an agriturismo experience that combines peace, tranquility, beautiful scenery plus a mulititude of places to go and things to do...Cretaiole is the place to stay. Isabella and Carlo are wonderful and have all the details down to a science. Luciano is the heart of the operation and wants to make sure you feel welcome and part... More
