My husband and I spent a week at Spedalone in May - what a fabulous experience!!! If you want an authentic Tuscan holiday this is the place for you. Alessandro and his team were wonderful - every day he made suggestions as to which town to visit, where to have lunch, which wineries are best. Breakfast outside overlooking the olive... More

Podere Spedalone is an experience unlike any other. The beauty of the charming villa and the spectacular vistas are surpassed only by the warmth and familial atmosphere you feel from the moment you walk through the door and meet Alessandro, Elena, Massimo and everyone at Spedalone. The dinners are incredible and not to be missed. The location is perfect for... More

Lovely location with great views and very close to where The Gladiatior was recorded. The food was delicious and the staff was very hospitable. It was very nice to have dinner togehter with all the other guests - like a large family dinner. Before dinner they served Prosecco and frittata (who was gorgeous) and cheese and other small dishes in... More

From the very beginning we felt like part of the family. The setting is gorgeous and seems too good to be true but it really is true. Alessandro and all of the staff made us feel special. The food was spectacular. We met people from all over the world. You can make the stay what you want and either stay... More

We stayed at Podere Spedalone two nights, and couldn't have been happier. Alessandro and his staff are the ultimate hosts. The place is beautiful, rooms comfortable and the food is amazing (we ate both breakfast and dinner there both days). If you're looking for a Tuscan agriturismo and you choose to stay anywhere else, you're making a mistake.

There are so many choices of agriturismo in Tuscany area that it wasn't easy for us to find the right one. But we were lucky to find this place and our family absolutely had a great time at Podere Spedalone. We stayed in La Casina Blu which was a very cute cottage just a short walk to the main house.... La Dolce Vida ! Nestled in the hill under the magical marvelous Midaeval town of Orvieto, you are welcomed like family by gracious Francesca and Alberto her father to their charming and lovely auberge/ hobby farm. They set a lovely breakfast under grape arbors with homemade breads, croissants fresh from the oven, eggs, local cheeses and fresh jams and tarts from... More

Podere Spedalone is a Tuscan gem! Pienza was the final city we visited on our Italian honeymoon and I can honestly say that we saved the best for last! Alessandro and the entire team at this agriturismo were warm, friendly, welcoming and passionate. They were also very helpful and offered great advice on nearby towns and wineries to visit for... I cannot comment on cost or value as I was on a tour and did not pay direct. OK, so this place is out in the middle of nowhere and not even on a proper road, but it wasnt really hard to find. The reward has to be one of the best places you could possibly stay, with the best... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Podere Spedalone dates back to the 8th century, when it was a place of shelter for pilgrims bound for Rome, situated as it is on the Via Francigena, or Frankish Route. It nestles, perfectly at ease, among the Crete Senesi and, after strictly conservational restoration, begun in 2004 and completed in 2006, it is now the ideal spot for anyone wishing to refresh spirit, senses, mind and body. ... more   less
