Stayed there for 2 nights with my husband for s friends wedding this last weekend. Enchanting and stunning location. The property itself is steeped in history and very rustic with each room being very individualistic. We were lucky that our room had air conditioning although I inderstand not all of them do. We were in no 12 on the first... More

It is a wonderful, historic building set in beautiful grounds with amazing views. However very few staff, and in need of a serious management makeover urgently. How is it possible for bar to run out of beer and glasses, and change, so many times at a large wedding function held over three days. Beers were warm and a toast of Limoncello... More

This historical property is isolated. The only accessible transport is the S.Ellero station 5km away, and the taxi ride to the station costs €20 each way, and has to be booked at least the day prior. The 25 min train ride into Florence is only approx €7 return. There is a local bus service in Donnini apparently but we didn't see... More

Pros Beautiful view of Tuscany Quiet Relaxing Cons Uninviting hotel, staff not especially friendly Extremely run down hotel and rooms, needs some money injected into the upkeep of this historic building Does not serve lunch, only dinner which is expensive Quiet far away from florence Despite being end of May....too cold to use pool The idea was to stay in... I spent one night in this charming Villa. Everything yhere is qualified as 5 stars for an hotel in this area. Wonderful place to be in the nature and to enjoy the walking around and the quiet place out of the world noise. Wish they can work on little details. NB: i had one mosquito that bothered my sleep, this... More

At first i was wondering where i have come. This is a very good hotel with its interiors just like that of an 18th century look. The windows are all of old style. Overlooking the hotel is a beautiful lush green outfield. The hotel is located at a height. If you are not so comfortable living an interior finish that resemble... More

If you are travelling around Italy by car, this is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living. Located high on a hilltop with magnificent views over Tuscany, this old, once grand villa, is set amongst olive groves and lush Tuscan forests. The only noises are the birds and the elusive sound of peace... More

This place is tired and in need of a good makeover. We stayed in the garden self contained cottage. The room itself was ok, but there were no wine glasses no internet, the TV did not work. The main hotel is shabby, the free Wifi in the hotel lobby is very slow and intermittent The staff didnt really offer any... More

The grand old mansion was looking tired and in need of a good clean and re-decorating when we stayed at the close of the season, but the historic atmosphere and Tuscan hills location compensate for the downside. Bathrooms are modern, spacious and clean, beds large and comfortable, and rooms have extensive mountain views. Breakfast is cold continental because no chef... More

Such a lovely, relaxing change of pace from the crowded streets of Rome. The grounds are beautiful and the villa itself is cozy and adorable. Don't book expecting a luxurious resort-style villa. This is a historical villa dating back to the 14th century with some updates and modifications but largely perserved in a rustic, historical fashion. There is essentially no... More
