The grand old mansion was looking tired and in need of a good clean and re-decorating when we stayed at the close of the season, but the historic atmosphere and Tuscan hills location compensate for the downside. Bathrooms are modern, spacious and clean, beds large and comfortable, and rooms have extensive mountain views. Breakfast is cold continental because no chef... More

Such a lovely, relaxing change of pace from the crowded streets of Rome. The grounds are beautiful and the villa itself is cozy and adorable. Don't book expecting a luxurious resort-style villa. This is a historical villa dating back to the 14th century with some updates and modifications but largely perserved in a rustic, historical fashion. There is essentially no... More

There are two upsides to this hotel. The fact that it sits way up on the hill overlooking some of the beauty of Tuscany and a good bathroom, PERIOD! We were on a tour out of Dallas, Texas. My long time friend and I each compared rooms. Both were very dirty, large cracks and holes in the walls, wires hanging... More

Been there ten years ago for a friends wedding. Had an amazing time then. Went back earlier this month for a few days with my wife and baby. Felt quite isolated up in the hills. Probably not the best place to be if you intend to spend time sight seeing in Florence. Saving graces: the excellent staff, great wine list... More

Upsides: The location of this villa is on top of a hill with lovely views of the Tuscan scenery. It is (by US standards) an older villa that has had some updating to be a hotel. Beautiful grounds and a nice included breakfast every morning. Downsides: There were several weddings the week we were there. They were actually kind of... More

The best and most important thing about Villa Pitiana is it's spectacular location. Do not be put off by the distance from Florence - it is really not that far. A charming property with beautiful views, Villa Pitiana has certainly retained it's old-world charm. We were greeted by very helpful staff at the front desk. They upgraded us to a... More

We spent 3 nights at Villa Pitiana and were so disappointed. It once was lovely, I am sure, but those days are long gone. The rooms are mediocre at best, with no charm other than the beautiful views out of the windows. The place is in dire need of paint with very soiled carpeting. There are holes in the walls... More

This hotel was such a beautiful property! The grounds were nice and the rooms were very spacious. Bedroom was lofted above the living area. Not updated but adds to the charm of the hotel. The value was great and we wished we would have stayed longer. Shower was a little small for my large husband and the bed wasn't super... More

My husband and I were married at Villa Pitiana last August and decided to return for our anniversary. We felt immediately back at home as soon as we arrived with the wonderful staff remembering us immediately and lavishing us with hugs, wine and laughs. For the wedding, we stayed in the honeymoon suite with the enormous balcony overlooking the garden... More

I LOVE Villa Pitiana and was absolutely delighted with every part of our stay. The house is grand, beautiful, and enormous with the best chandeliers I have ever seen. Faded grandeur with the right mix of charm, tranquility and cool. Its high up in the hills with breathtaking views and so relaxing. I didn't want to leave. We had a... More
