We were early in the season and, in effect, had the Villa to ourselves. Bagni di Lucca is approx. 30 miles from Lucca although a good bus or train service into Lucca.....Pisa is a further 20 or so miles. Villa Rosalena is on the west side of Bagni de Lucca and it is a good half hour walk into the... More

We stayed at the Villa Rosalena on a long drive up from southern Italy. We found the villa very easily thanks to the map Rod had emailed to us. The room we stayed in had fabulous views up the valley which we could still see from the bed! We also had the best WiFi strength in our room of any... More

I recently stayed with 2 friends at Villa Rosalena and we would definitely go again. We only stayed a few nights for a nearby Wedding but the Owner (Rod) was very helpful in sorting out taxis for us and generally making our stay as easy and relaxing as possible. The area was great to explore and definitely recommend the Pizzeria... More

We loved our stay in Villa Rosalena with Rod, who picked us up from the train station, settled us in with beer on the house which we drank on the patio outside and since the entire guesthouse was empty, gave us the very best room, with amazing views right over the town and river. Rod gave us all the information... More

It is actually the first time I have been nearly reduced to tears on arrival at a self-catering appartment. Not because the place was un-liveable but because the photos badly misrepresented the property and the price in high season advertised at approximately 1900€ is a massive overpricing. Thankfully I had a discount for my stay, but there are much much... More

Response from Rod Swail, Owner. Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for your suggestions. I am very saddened to read that you were unhappy with your time at Villa Rosalena and that not all aspects of the accommodation met your expectations. Although I saw and spoke with some members of the family unfortunately no one... More

A fantastic stay in a charming town in a wonderful house full of charm and good atmosphere. Hospitable and helpful hosts who did everything so that we might feel comfortable and have a good time. It was with sadness we have to leave, but we are looking forward to come back. And we would definitely recommend Villa Toscany Rosalena to... More

Is this a five star hotel with bells and whistles? No - nor does it try to be. Is this a traditional Italian property offering good value for money B&B and excellent service from the extremely attentive proprietor Rod? Yes Whilst I would offer a word of warning to those of an infirm disposition or mobility issues as there are... More

Stayed here with friends and hired the villa for a week. It's a stunning location and burnt a few calories climbing the steps to the villa but worth it for the stunning views from the loggia. The rooms are huge and spacious and bathrooms are lovely. Was a great place to stay and only a short walk from the town.... More

Having stayed a week in Rod and Caroline's bed and breakfast I can thoroughly recommend this lovely villa. It is comfortable and spacious with high class en suite accommodation. Rod's breakfasts are delicious and his friendly advice and help in getting around this beautiful region without a car are invaluable. Bagni Di Lucca is a beautiful, small Italian town with... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Perfect room, perfect views of the town. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We even got a carafe of wine on arrival. Make sure you have dinner at the Villa at least once! The food was fantastic (too much for us to finish despite our big appetites) and great value in a lovely... More
