I recently stayed for three nights at the Don Alfonso 1890 hotel. The owners (the Iaccarino family) and their staff made me feel like I was a special guest. However, in reading the other reviews on Trip Advisor, I can see that I wasn't special at all; that is how they treat all their guests. The attention to detail is... More

We booked for dinner here many months before arriving having read the reports and being very keen to sample a further Michelin starred chef. Very personal greeting on arrival, magnificently set out room, super ambiance, knowledgeable and easy to talk to staff. Wonderful menu and wine list, great knowledgeable help with the wine choice. We chose La Traditional menu, excellent... More

We stayed at Don Alfonso 1890 for 3 nights in September 2014, this was our first and only visit to date. What can one add to all the plaudits already awarded to this peerless hotel and restaurant? Not much is the probable answer, we had a truly wonderful and memorable time. The service was faultless from the moment we checked... More

We arrived with no expectations and were overwhelmed by everything and I mean everything. The owner treats you like a long lost friend, the staff is helpful and the attention to detail is astounding. The wine cellar is unique and probably unmatched as the cavernous walls date back to the 6th century. The town itself is away from the tourist... More

We went this spring (May) just as the sleepy town was awakening and getting reading for the season and before the hordes of tourists hit the Amalfi coast. Though Sant'Agata sui due Golfi isn't really located on the tourist track. The hotel is rather small (9 rooms) and was fairly empty which made it all the more gorgeous even though... More

Just back from our third stay. Previously we just went to Don Alfonso for a meal while staying a short distance away in Positano, but when they added the rooms we decided to avail ourselves of the 3 night package with meal included and this is the third year we've done that. We've had lovely stays there ever since: excellent... More

We went to the Don Alfonso 1890 cooking school while visiting Sorrento. The experience is hard to describe - there is such a serious yet welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. The mood is friendly, inviting and fun - the hospitality is warm and all embracing. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The class was helpful, precise and well... More

This is a real gem of a hotel in a rather non descript working town. We spent three nights here in the lap of luxury. Lovely gardens and view of bay of Naples and personal service from the owners. This hotel ranks "up There" with some of the best we have stayed in. be sure to have a meal at... More

We were quite excited at the prospect of staying at Don Alfonso 1890 before going although we'd been to Italy many times. We had also booked lessons at the cooking school for four days. The entire experience as it turned out exceeded all our expectations. You couldn't ask for better hosts than the Iaccarinos. They do not just own and... More

The Best stay we had in our trip to Europe (Which included Hotel De Paris and Four Seasons hotels). The BEST food we had on our trip. We were treated like family. Amazing wine cellar and Etruscan caves from 5BC. Impeccable service. We can't wait to go back!!!
