Whilst staying in another hotel in Santa Maria di Castellabate for a friends wedding this week my fiancé and I visited 1861 twice for dinner with friends. We had such a tasty and elegant dinner, with friendly and professional service in the hidden garden at the rear of the property. A beautiful setting with soft lighting bare stone walls and... More

For personal reasons I've been unable to return to Santa Maria di Castellabate for a couple of years but when I decided to make this trip there was never any doubt about where I wanted to stay... and the welcome from Carlo and Theresa was as warm as ever: it really does feel like going home. Monica, who mans the... More

We stayed here on our wedding night after getting married a few hours earlier in the beautiful Santa Maria. You won't find a more picturesque hotel to stay anywhere else in the town than 1861. Our room was more of an apartment than a room with a spacious bedroom with a king size bed, a huge bathroom, a separate lounge... More

I perhaps shouldn't be writing this review as I don't want too many people to discover 1861 Residenza d"Epoca! It is a delight. We had the perfect view of the sea, a stone's throw from our balcony, and a lovely room (plus hallway and decent-enough sized bathroom). The service is helpful and friendly without being intrusive; the location for the... More

Facing the seafront of Santa Maria this B&B offers a view of the Mediterranean Sea, tasteful interior, combined with the atmosphere of an old palazzo, creates relaxing holiday atmosphere. The perfect place for dolce far niente. Very nice owners and staff who are always available for valuable tips.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Carlo's charming B&B in the lovely and peaceful town of Santa Maria di Castellabate. Residenza was the best part of our recent honeymoon in Rome, Amalfi and southern Campania, and really one of the best lodging experiences of my life. The inn looks incredible, with modern lamps and furniture in a... More

In the main, we found this hotel to be quite delightful with it's avoidance of a commercial air. The owners clearly have good and classic taste. Rooms are spacious and minimally furnished (read uncluttered) in a mixture of contemporary and tasteful antique. Somehow also very calming, maybe the whites/creams/neutral tones. It's location is superb (other than noise issue to be... More

We loved our stay at Residenza. Santa Maria de Castellabate is the best of 3 villages down from mountainhill Castellabate. In the middle of September you can feel very relaxed with no crowds around you. We had suite with large balcony and views were stunning. Spaciuos room, high ceilings, real feeling of old ancient house. Free minibar is a good... More

Got married in Santa Maria Di Castellabate in early September and spent a week in the village. We booked in here for 3 nights and it is an amazing hotel. Even though we had a villa for both families we still stayed here for a couple of nights. It is not a 5 star hotel with all the bells and... More

We got married in Santa Maria and stayed here for 3 nights, the building is old,in age not not decor!, with lots of character, there are only, i think, 6 rooms so its lovely and quiet. Breakfast (buffet which is not particularly exciting) is served at tables overlooking the sea lapping on the rocks in front of you. The rooms... More
