Stayed here the last week of September, flying in to Heraklion from Edinburgh (about 4.5 hours) It was late when I got there, but the person on duty chaecked me in with a smile and a complimentary welcome drink. Times of meals etc, where clearly displayed at the reception desk, in different languages. I retired to my double superior room, right next to the pool and restaurant, and was delighted at how clean everything was. Apart from the local tax, payment on arrival, there were no hidden charges or extra costs for aircon, etc. Food was good. Breakfast was a good mix of continental. Lots of choice and great coffee too! Evening meals were very good. A great choice of dishes. Always nice fruit and cakes on the menu. Staff are amazing. Nice to see so many smiles and a cheerful greeting, each day. The hotel is serviced by a frequent bus route to Heraklion terminus, About 1.60 euros, single. The beaches are about a 2 minute walk via the hotel garden. Plenty fo places to hire chairs and umbrellas. Also a few local beach restaurants and cafes. The are is ok for shopping. A big supermarket, about five minutes walk and a smaller grocers opposite that. Plenty of local places to eat. Great local food and also pizzerias. average cost of any meal I had was about 15 euros with a drink of some sort. Car hire businesses in abundance. I didn't need one, but apparently its not too pricey. Would I return? Definitely! A great place for my first Cretan adventure.

I stayed at the Marilisa Hotel with my wife and 10-year-old daughter for 10 days in early August 2023. The hotel is 3 stars and was just what we wanted - lovely and clean with a very traditional Greek feel. The hotel is small and was never too busy anywhere. All of the staff were really friendly and approachable. We were half board and the food, whilst not a la carte, was very nice. There was always something at breakfast and dinner to enjoy and there was plenty of it. The pool was bathed in sunshine all day and there were invariably sunbeds and shades available. The pool does get deep at one end (about 9 feet) so we used pool noodles to float about when we were too tired to swim. There is a pool bar open all day where you could also buy lunch. The room was fairly basic but large with comfortable beds, air conditioning and a fridge. It was cleaned every day. The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the beach and situated in the centre of the village which has some bars, restaurants and shops (including a big supermarket). Kokkini Hani is not a full-on tourist trap and feels very Greek so is probably not for those seeking a wild time. It was however absolutely perfect for us. A huge thank you to all of the staff at the Marilisa Hotel for a wonderful holiday. We will certainly be returning.

We stayed here for a two day one night as an emergency accommodation due to the most recent issues back in the UK. We thought it was nice clean rooms were spacious. Staff go above and beyond for you. We ordered food from the bar which was good quality kids loved the pizza. Pool is clean but very deep for kids there is a wanting sign at the pool telling you this which is also very good. Overall I couldn’t fault it although is was a quick stay very happy.

This is a review for the cafe/restaurant by the bar. We visited this evening-the service was terrible, felt ignored and not valued as a customer. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back-lots of better options in the area where they actually care about the customer

We stayed at Marilisa for 7 days in mid-September 2022 and we loved it. The hotel is very nice and clean. It is located in a quiet, not very touristy area, with access to the beach, shops (the nearest off-license is about 2 minutes walk and is open until 1-2 am), restaurants and bars. Our rooms were spacious and cleaned daily and kept immaculate by the lovely cleaning ladies. There was a good selection of food at breakfast and dinner and it was very tasty too - and you get to eat outside which was a bonus for us. Eleni, Aris and the rest of the team who looked after us deserve a huge shout out as they were extremely polite, friendly and always happy to help with anything. The beach is 2 mins. walk through the back gate, although it is quite small and not the prettiest. We found the Arena beach more appealing. It is about 15 mins walk from the hotel or 2 bus stops away. We would definitely recommend staying at Marilisa and we hope to be back in the future.

Marilisa – a small, chic, quiet hotel, very close to the beach. Everything is of hight quality - large, spacious rooms, silent air conditioning, small but efficient refrigerator, bed linen and towels that look like new. Good food, not pretentious, but sufficient and diverse. You can eat at a table on the terrace - what could be nicer? And - best of all - the staff is extraordinary. They seem to be there to make you feel like home. They provide you with all the necessary information about interesting places to visit. Heleni, the head of staff, knows the names of all the tourists and is attentive to all their needs. Heleni, we already miss you!

This hotel is amazing, first and foremost because of the staff. They are extremely friendly, hard working, always eager to help, and they actually remember the names of their guest. They made our trip memorable, and we cannot thank them enough. We've traveled to many places, but this is the first time I've encountered employees who do much more than their job description. Just a small example: it was my husband's birthday, and the staff baked him a cake, as a surprize - with candles and a birthday song! I was deeply impressed. And they were extremely kind to my energetic 7 year old boy, and so patient with him, always engaging in friendly discussions...thank you Eleni and Ari, I appreciated this very much! The room (as everything else at the hotel) was spotless, cleaned daily, with high quality bedlinens. The food was delicios, the beach near by was very nice, small but clean and peaceful (there are also many beaches close by which offer sunbeds for 5 eur). The water is amazing, and there are many beautiful places to visit in the area. In conclusion, I highly recommand this hotel, it's a great value for money. Even though it's a 3* hotel, the services provided are well above that!

The personnel in the hotel was very friendly, helpful and ready to give a hand during our entire stay. They offer a wide variety of food for breakfast as well as dinner. We appreciate the possibility to taste traditional local dishes and drinks. There were several sandy beaches reachable within a few minutes on foot. We also see the quiet atmosphere of the hotel as a plus. The cleanliness of the rooms was also without problems. We felt there like at home also thanks to the fact that Aris and Eleni remembered the names of each guest. Our warm regards goes to them for their extraordinary care. We hope to be able to return at some point in the future. J & B

Very positive hotel experience. I especially liked the fact that visitors were addressed personally (by name) Location of the hotel is great, just next to the sea, close to shops. Hotel staff (especially Eleni) was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable, cleaned every day. Breakfast was good - variety of cheese and ham, butter, eggs made different each day (boiled, omlette), vegetables, jams, nutella, honey, fruits…. Dinner was very good. Lots of choice - dishes with meat and vegetables, fish, rice, salads, fruits and sweets….. The beach is very close to hotel, you can get the umbrella with you from hotel. Beach is very quiet, a few people all day long. The village is quiet and close to the airport. You can go to Heraklion by bus, 1.90 euro the trip, to Hersonissos 1.80. Also close to Cretaquarium, 1,60 euro the trip. We enjoyed our stay and we will return!

We just got back from a one week trip to Crete and 7 nights at Marilisa. This is a place that made us feel like we were home. Eleni and her colleagues were very nice and always very helpful. We thank them for all the help. Our daughter, Natalia, still talks about them. The room - very good and cleaned every day. We had a pool view room and at first we thought it will be noise but we handle it and could take our afternoon nap. The food - breakfast was good, almost the same everyday but that’s the case in all hotels. In the morning there is variety of cheese and ham, butter, eggs made different each day (boiled, scrambled or fried), vegetables, jams, honey, fruits and cereals. We took lunch there only the first day and we had a nice Greek salad and chicken gyros. The other days we took the recommendation from Eleni and went to To Kima tavern (I hope it is spelled correct) a few minutes away. Very good food there. Dinner at Marilisa was good. Various dishes with meat and vegetables, fish, rice, salads, fruits and sweets. We had what to eat each evening. All the drinks from the bar you have to pay. Draft beer is almost 4 euro and a juice 2.70 euro. The beach - is almost 50 m from the hotel and you get an umbrella from the reception if needed. It’s very quiet and not crowded, only a few people all day long and most of them are locals. It’s mostly for towels but there are also sun bed. A pair with umbrella costs 5 euro all day. The village - quiet and close to the airport, only 15 minutes away. You get go to Heraklion by bus, 1.80 euro the trip. Also close to Cretaquarium, 5 min, and 1,60 euro the trip. Lots of car rental places and we recommend Interhellas, neighbour’s of Marilisa. Good service and prices.
