We loved staying at Rainbow Valley Lodge. We arrived by public transportation, and it was easy to get around without a car. Christian and Hazel were the consummate hosts -- welcoming, kind, and very informative. They both grew up in the area, and Christian is a seasoned naturalist guide -- an added bonus! We were grateful to be staying a... More

This review is long overdue but I knew in writing this how much it would make me miss Costa Rica and Monteverde/Santa Elena especially! My boyfriend and I spent two nights at Rainbow Valley Lodge at the end of June and we were lucky to come across this gem of a place. We had the lower single room and it... More

I stayed at the Lodge for two nights in December. The Lodge was comfortable with a stunning view! I forget some things in the Lodge and they sent them to Germany without charging any cost. Christian, the host of the Lodge is an amazing guy providing any kind of service. I highly recommend to stay in his Lodge!

Title of the review provided by my 8 year old son, who really liked Rainbow Valley Lodge. I usually do Pros and Cons in my reviews, but I have no Cons so will just go over the Pros. We stayed at the standalone cabin and we were the only ones there for our 3 days, which was great for our... More

My partner and I saw this place while siring into town and decided to stop. We were informed by Christian (host) that there would be a vacancy the next day. He then gave us coupons for restaurants and all other types of tours. All his suggestions were great. I would recommend this place to anyone. The room was clean, the... More

Some people are thrill seekers, others are view seekers. I'm a view seeker, and if you're anything like me, you will love this place! Lush green mountains of the rain forest for as far as the eye can see in any direction with the occasional rainbow to ice the cake. I never witnessed the rainbow for myself, but I hear... More

Very happy you had a nice stay and view Mario. Thanks to you and all the others who take time out of their busy schedules to post a review to help potential future guests. That upper room being above the trees really makes the view special. I would point out that we now have a pretty clear view of the... More

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in May 2014. We stayed in the upper room which has a breath taking view. We loved the kitchenette room: it had all the essentials for cooking and seating to enjoy the mountains through the big windows. The location is about an 8 minute walk away from santa elena which has... More

We stayed for two nights in the upper room at Rainbow Valley, and it was absolutely lovely. Private and beautiful, the hotel is still a comfortable 8 minute walk from town. My favorite features of the hotel included its beautiful environment (the view from the upper room balcony is breathtaking), its rustic charm, the kitchenette (complete with free coffee), and... The location was perfect; overlooking a valley and at times you can see a rainbow. We came here to avoid the crowds in the center of Santa Elena and to avoid the whole backpacker scene and mostly to relax. Mornings and evenings you can hear and see a lot of birds. I'm sure there were dozens of species. Although i'm... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rainbow Valley Lodge Monteverde is close to the town of Santa Elena, about 15 minutes walking or 3 minutes in a vehicle. With only two rooms and a cabin and no neighbors close by you can enjoy peace and quiet in a forest setting. We have Wi-Fi signal in all rooms. Clean rooms with hot water, possible chance to see animals right outside the rooms and owner help with guides and activities. All rooms have coffeemaker and Monteverde coffee plus small refrigerator (cabin has large fridge). The upper room has small kitchenette and the cabin a full kitchen. Great views to the mountains over a valley in the upper room (and Rainbows sometimes) and forest views plus valley views from the lower room and the cabin which sleeps 5 which is best for possible monkeys sightings (no gaurantee). Parking near the rooms. Prices compare very favorably to other accommodations in Monteverde. We are not 5 star so please do not expect total luxury! We hope to see you here! ... more   less
