My son (13 years old) and I spend 3 nights at that hotel. The rooms and the breakfast were great. But, the most important is Jose (the owner) - his worm hospitality, advises on attractions and restaurants met our needs and taste. He really care about his guests. Wormly recommended!

not a five star hotel but a five star rating for warmth and character. Furniture and decor made by local artists. Well-organized; clean; great location. very friendly staff. No TV but walk to cloud-forest attractions instead. environmentally conscious and quiet. close to nice restaurants esp Bon Apattito.

We had the pleasure of staying here during the Monteverde leg of our Costa Rica trip. Our host was by far the friendliest of all the hosts we met in Costa Rica. He made sure we were comfortably settled in and answered all our questions (what to do, what to eat, when will our transportation arrive??, etc.). In the mornings,... More

Rooms are comfortable and clean, though our room in the back of the proprty was a little dark. Facilities are basic. There are 15 rooms it seems some rooms have a more luxurious appearance and views. The hotel is about 10 mins walk outside the town centre and up relatively steep hills. Very quiet location. The welcome was great with... More

The place is small and intimate, with a pretty little garden and a common dining room where the small staff prepares a homemade breakfast as if each guest was a friend. Jose runs the place and is quite simply one of the kindest and most welcoming people I have ever met. Interacting with him is very different from speaking with... More

We loved staying at Rustic Lodge in Monteverde during our honeymoon. The service was impeccable, and we really felt welcomed. Cozy atmosphere with gorgeous wooden tables that were made by the owner himself; excellent recommendations for tours by staff; fantastic free breakfast. Not too far a walk to town, and just down the street from our favorite restaurant, Sabor Tico.... More

Wonderful little hotel! As soon as we stepped off the shuttle we were greeted by Eric, who was covering while Jose (the owner) was running an errand. He immediately helped us to our room, which was upstairs with a view out over the field across the street. Once we were settled in, the receptionist prepared us a fresh juice drink... More

Rustic Lodge- yes! We only spent 2 days in Monteverde, but the Rustic Lodge was one of the simple highlights. First of all, I received the warmest welcome I could've imagined from Eric. He met us at the car, greeted us by name, and immediately shuffled us up to our awaiting room inviting us downstairs for fresh juice and info... More

We stayed in a second floor room over winter break, and absolutely loved it. A few notes on the "Rustic". This lodge is beautiful, with wonderful natural all over the place. The rooms have no TV or phone, BUT the hotel has very good (for rural Costa Rica) Wifi. Breakfast was a highlight, the very friendly hotel staff actually cooks... More

Jose is very accomodating and eager to please. The receptionist will be more than happy to arrange any tour you want. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. Location is decent. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. No A/C, but at this elevation, it is not needed. There was a ceiling fan for circulation. Monteverde is succeptable... More
