The parking is in a field for up to two cars. We got a room on the ground floor that seemed of employees. The hot water did not work well, mini towels were not enough. We went to breakfast and kitchen utensils were dirty and messy, the fruit was ripe and insects was rampant, the bread was not fresh. The... More

The guys here made us feel welcome straight away. The common area with two computers is so comfy it feels like it could be your living room. The customer service here is some of the best that I've come accross. For example we were leaving before breakfast so he packed us up some banana bread and left it out in... More

We enjoyed our stay and got exactly what we expected. The room was clean and nice (although ours was by the kitchen/common area so it was a bit louder; and the roof window doesn't really allow any sky watching), it's near everything you need in Santa Elena and the staff was friendly. It's been a while so I don't remember... More

The owner of the hostel is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The building itself is a bit 'off beat' but in a nice way...I guess a bit like the 'house that Jack built'. It has the most original shower set up I've come across - the use of real rock as the flooring in the shower. Quite fascinating. The communal... More

My wife and I have stayed in a large number of hostels during our annual vacations, and most have been quite comfortable and enjoyable. Casa Tranquilo is at the top of that list! We should have known it was going to be a great place, when the owner showed up at the bus terminal in a taxi, just for us!... More

This was an amazing spot to stay. Small and so helpful as the staff took us on walks for no cost. Breakfast is included which is a bonus. Also loved the well trained dogs. Ask to see the climbing tree. Also go to the spa that is not advertised but on a small farm. Go with others as you will... More

We found this place after a last minute change of plans and liked it so much, we immediately booked an extra night. Very comfortable and welcoming. Good location in Santa Elena. If I had to name a con, I would say it's the heating system in the showers (mentioned by another reviewer). It can't really keep up with the flow... More

I visited with a friend for a short visit in Santa Elena. Casa Tranquilo was our host for 2 nights. It is clean, efficient, has a kitchen, computer room, free wifi, hot running water. The furniture is made of real wood, not particle board, and is solid and comfortable. The hosts are gracious, full of useful tips and advice. Their... More

Loved the location, suggestions from staff, and relaxed atmosphere. Close to grocery store, bus stop and local eateries. Staff arranged an excursion that was very good. However, broken toilet was never fixed (or even looked at), kitchen was a mess and overall feel was unclean.

when we arrived we got the information we asked for and the recepcionist was very friendly. having a shower can cause serious problems, was lucky i wore my havaianas when i got a electric shock from it. in the night it was almost not possible to sleep, its just beside the street and a simple (but nice) wooden building. breakfast... Hi well im very sad and confused about this comment. First of all i would like to apologize for the inconveniences suffered by you while staying here. I would of appreciated that you let me know personally while staying here why you didnt tell me about these things. So far i have had no complaints about the showers or anyone... More
