My wife and I stayed at the Las Orquideas Hotel in Monteverde for 3 nights in April 2008 and absolutely loved it. What a great place! – an amazing view of nature (there is an observation deck at the back of the hotel overlooking the forest and a waterfall), various animals and birds, terrific breakfast made to order by Elizabeth... Las Orquideas and its own, Nidia, are fantastic. From the first time we stepped in the hotel, she was more than helpful. She will tell you all locations in the area, what zip lines to go on and what to avoid. Nidia lived in the US for 25 years and is fluent in English. The hotel in neat, clean and... More

My husband and I stayed at Las Orquideas for two nights while on our Costa Rican Spring Break adventure. We wanted a hotel that was reasonably priced, simple, close to town and nice. This hotel is all of that and more! Along with the great $55 a night rate, we received a home cooked traditional Tico breakfast, which made our... More

In my opinion this is more of a B&B than a hotel, but it is a great choice for Monteverde. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and we found her advice about the area spot on. The rooms are simple but comfortable. My one complaint is that there is not a lot of common area to relax in -... More

We spent two nights at Las Orquideas last month. We booked by calling the hotel directly and had no difficulties. I do speak Spanish so that might have helped, though I think the staff speaks some English. We thought the location was good - it's at the southern edge of Santa Elena - an easy walk to downtown, but you'd... More

This is a great place. we have stayed their twice, once in 2005 (Garden season) and again in 2008 (Summer season) Nidia treats everyone like they are part of the family. They speak English well and they will help you with any tours, questions or help. Great breakfast, clean rooms and they have a nice view overlooking the valley and... More

the hotel staff isn't the brightest crayon in the box but nice. only go here if you speak spanish as no one speaks english. the place kinda smelled like dog bum because of the old dog that was in the main lobby area. the room was clean and comfortable. good luck sleeping if it's windy, the palm trees might start... As you enter the village of Santa Elena you will see the intimate eight room Hotel Las Orquideas. The interior of the lobby and rooms are beautifully done in richly grained native woods giving the whole area a warm feeling. The personable owners enhanced this warm feeling. The Oliverio’s are Ticos who lived for an extended period of time in... More

I had a terrible experience at this hotel, I made my reservation through costaricalink-flamingo link. So when I arrived at the hotel the hotel owner would not honor our reservation and we were not allowed to stay there. And they will not refund my money.

We deeply regret not being able to accomodate these tourists. Had we at Hotel Las Orquideas had received a reservation request from Flamingo Link and returned to them a reservation confirmation, we certainly would have honored this voucher. But as we stated before, we had no knowledge of the reservation, confirmed or much less received moneys for these guests. For... More
