We chose Las Orquideas based on its popularity on TripAdvisor. This hotel did not disappoint! The hotel is located within walking distance (1.5 km) of the bustling town of Santa Elena. The rooms are spacious, clean, and relaxing. The rear of the hotel includes a walkway that overlooks the beautiful mountainous rain forest. The free breakfast is scrumptuous and the... More

We spent three nights at Hotel Las Orquideas and highly recommend it to other travellers. The hotel has a great location - it's away from the noise and buses in town, but within walking distance to the town and its restaurants. More importantly, the hotel backs onto a beautiful valley stretching all the way to the Pacific ocean, and the... More

Nidia (the owner) lives onsite, and she's friendly and very helpful with tips for tours, local restaurants, etc. She keeps a library of guide and nature books, novels, and other reading materials to relax with. There is a deck behind the hotel with a great view that extends from twin waterfalls on the left to the Pacific Ocean on the... More

We had an awesome stay, but please read our warning on unscrupulous sites at the bottom of my review. Our family of four spent 2 nights at Las Orchideas in mid-August. We walked in and met Nidia, the owner, who welcomed us warmly. She seemed surprised to see our kids however....anywherecostarica.com had booked us without a mention of the kids....don't... More

My family of 4 spent two nights here at the beginning of August. Nidia could not have been more accommodating and her English is great. Our unit had 2 rooms with a total of 5 beds. Lots of space and clean. Santa Elena was 500 meters down the road. Breakfast was great - fresh fruit and eggs. Nidia will help... More

We waited too long to make reservations so we ended up here. The hotel is very clean, but it is directly off the highway so you aren't experiencing the beauty of the rain forest. More importantly, the first night of our stay, we had stuff stolen from our room (though we were only gone an hour). While the theft was... More

Las Orquideas is a lovely little hotel, which is very well kept. It is spotless, and everything is in good working order (wonderful showers!). The woman who runs it, Nidia, is extremely knowledgable and helpful. She took very good care of us. If you will be staying in the area, it is a great choice! My only complaint is about... More

We stayed at "Las Orquideas" for one night on July 8. We have 2 daughters aged 16 and 11, and initially we had booked one of the larger rooms with 2 cots. Due to low season, the owner (Nidia) offered us 2 rooms for the same price, which was already a great deal compared to the high prices of most... More

Our family of five stayed at this hotel for two nights. We booked a double and a triple room, but when we arrived, the owner asked us if we would like another room at a special rate. It was such a good deal that we decided to get our daughter her own room. The place is decorated like a mountain... More

My wife and I stayed at the Las Orquideas Hotel in Monteverde for 3 nights in April 2008 and absolutely loved it. What a great place! – an amazing view of nature (there is an observation deck at the back of the hotel overlooking the forest and a waterfall), various animals and birds, terrific breakfast made to order by Elizabeth...
