I'm always very surprised at reviews that make no sense. I have read through many of the reviews on this hotel and am shocked that anyone would write anything negative about Las Orquideas. This charming little hotel is family run and more along the lines of a BnB. The owner was very accommodating and helped us with anything we needed.... more

What a great way to end our trip to Costa Rica. This adorable gem of a hotel is only 10 minutes to the airport. If it weren't for the road noise, you would swear you were in the middle of paradise. Everywhere you look there is lush greenery and flowers. Nature trails ring the property and lead you to tropical... more

Las Orquideas is more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel, and it´s certainly a no frills "hotel." I don´t think there are more than 7 rooms. The owner and her son and daughter-in-law all live here in separate rooms, so there are really only 4 rooms for rent. The owner is very nice and hospitable. She lived in... more

We stayed at Las Orquideas the first night we arrived in Costa Rica. We wish we could have spent more time there because it was very peaceful and quaint. I was a little nervous about the location at first because I had read other reviews that said it was a bit off the beaten path but we didn't agree with... more

I agree with what the other reviewers have said. Friendly staff person, Ana. Great views, both down to the bay and across the street to the horse farm. Noisy wind all night long, which might bother some and did reduce going outside to admire the view. Internet: it wasn't working when we got there. We fixed it (the sysadmin was... more

We arrived to Las Orquideas from Arenal and stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is well kept and clean and the water pressure is great here. The breakfast is very good and great start for the early morning hikes or excursions. We arrived by shuttle and compared Las Orquideas to the hotels in the area and we were very... more

We just spent three days at the hotel and thought it was great. In response to an earlier negative review we thought the place was clean, well kept and very friendly. Folks, this is a one star hotel so no you don't have a TV or phone in the room. But the room is larger than you would expect, the... more

This hotel is more like a B & B which was just fine with my son & me. It gave us a chance experience Tico life more. At first we were given a very small room with 1 bed. I was feeling rather claustraphobic & asked to be switched. The owner had no problem giving us a larger room with... more

We stayed at the Hotel Las Orquideas for two nights, based largely on favorable reviews on tripadvisor. It was a mistake. I can only assume that the ratings are based primarily on value, because it was not a comfortable place to be. The room was tiny, and at night, it sounded like the hotel was going to blow over in... more

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and would recomend it for other people wanting to go to the region of Monteverde. Nidia, the hotel owner was friendly, knowledgeable and went out of her way to make us feel at home. The hotel was not fancy but met all of our criteria. Inexpensive, clean, close to town (less than... more
