Your either on your feet in Santa Elena or on a tour bus to the excursion so base camp is key. The Arco Iris Lodge is a step away from the heart of town, but while on the property you feel a million miles away.

I enjoyed 2 nights here with 6 gal friends (over 50 somethings) during our recent trip through Costa Rica. The friendliness and service of the staff was just wonderful! We had 3 different types of units to accommodate our group. 2 stayed in the house which was up quite a steep hill but a beautiful walk to get there. It... More

Stayed in the superior rooms, right by the driveway, near reception area, during late Jan. Pluses: very pretty grounds and flora, nicely decorated rooms - accurately depicted in the photos on website - clean and comfortable beds, great shower, small TV and fridge in room, good breakfast buffet option at small additional cost, and good options for tours arranged by... They have a variety of lodging options from single rooms to family cabins and rental house and honeymoon cabin. Simply rustic but we had fridge and TV and great internet . Will help you with recs and reservations. Lots of lovely outdoor areas for seating and hammock swinging. Fantastic breakfast , sometimes included it seems but sometimes not in your... More

This place was wonderful. Small, secluded, but literally right in town, just up a hill from a great restaurant called Morphus. We stayed in a Superior room with an upstairs and we loved it. The breakfast was worth the $7 - it was full of fresh fruit, yogurt and made-to-order food. Very helpful staff - helped us plan tours and... More

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel. Although the approach was steep it was only a few hundred metres from the town. The room was spotless and stylish. Comfortable beds and an exceptionally efficient shower. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was good - almost too much choice. The homemade jams were brilliant - in particular the pineapple and papaya.

Within a minute's walk of the centre of Santa Elena, this is a great place to stay. It has nice rooms; a lovely garden and a really nice buffet breakfast with lots of choice and freshly cooked eggs. The staff are friendly and it is a great place to stay as you can walk into town to get lunch (Orchid... More

We loved our stay at Arco Iris. It was located right in town, so very convenient to grocery, bank and restaurants. Once on the property, however you would not be aware of that. It was situated on beautifully landscaped acres, with fruit trees, chickens and horses. The breakfast was fantastic, with home made breads, jams and fresh eggs from the... More

We arrived without a reservation at the end of November escaping persistent rains in Arenal. This is a great base for exploring the local sights. It is right in town yet feels secluded as it sits tucked away on a green hillside. A couple of times day there is a tiny bit of dog and car (the type that drive... More
