We were about to check into the El Establo right across the street for $300/night. We decided to check out La Montana first to see what it was all about. Boy were we glad we did. We ended up with a large room with the same breathtaking view El Establo offered for only $85 thanks to Gustavo the Colombian manager.... More

We traveled the Costa Rica country side and spent 2 nights in Monteverde at the Hotel Montana Monteverde. The property itself was well maintained and the views from the room balconies were very nice. No A/C as you had to figure out what the ideal sleeping temperature is by trial and error with the glass window slats open. Not a... More

5 nights. Good view. Nice beds. Good bathrooms. Boring breakfasts. But it is very nice, clean and simply good hotel. Good value for money. Food fine, no fireworks, but you can go to SODA nearby or just walk to the centre of Monteverde, 30 minutes.

I stayed with my wife for two nights. The room was big, with a balcony and a really nice view. It was clean but the was no WiFi. You need to go to the lobby or restaurant to use it. The breakfast was really poor, in comparison with the other hotels we stayed in Costa Rica. The place is cold... More

The room is basic with a mini refrigerator and a old television set. Bathroom has a jacuzzi and is spacious. There is a balcony with views of the cloud forest. Beware of the exotic creatures around including large insects. Everything is nearby and walking distance from eateries to attractions and also there is a car service for any of the... More

The rooms were in several blocks two stories high and reached down a very steep slope. The rooms in the block we were in had good views down over the coast. Our room was on the top floor far right. It was clean and comfortable with a large balcony. The bathroom had an unexpeceted large bath that was twice the... More

No heating in the room and as this is near the cloud forrest, not very warm most of the time. Very windy. Good views though. Bathroom strange. Huge bath, but plug did not work and unable to use taps to fill bath. There were 30 folks in our party and none of us could use the bath. Shower only on... More

Stunning views from a basic room. The room was clean. Bathroom was clean too, though a bit small. Staff were helpful. The hotel consists of multiple blocks with different sized and equipped rooms. Wifi only in the main building. Breakfast was okay.

This is a very basic hotel (tagged 3 stars). We booked it because we could not get anything better, and hoped to be surprised... Well, we were not... Out of two couples, we got the better room, in the main building. The beds were large and the linen clean, however, there was no airconditioning in the room, and all its... More

The hotel is located in an enviable position facing west with far reaching views of the Pacific coastline. Set in beautiful gardens with plenty of birds. However that is all the hotel has going for it. The rooms are dated, the wardrobe was falling to bits and the sink was chipped and marked and the towels very thin. The bathroom... More
