When we arrived we were extremely impressed by the first glance to the hotel. It seemed quite high class for the price we paid and the view we got at the sunset was absolutely breathtaking. That's the good thing about this place: the amazing view. Otherwise it really isn't great, the hotel has been quite neglected and it isn't clean.... More

This was a very nice rustic hotel that we stayed at with a tour group. The room was very nice, but we got there when it was cold and windy and it was freezing to sleep at night. We asked for extra blankets and had to do so three times before we got them. They definitely need new mattresses, and... More

Although the views from this hotel are spectacular, it is well past it's prime. The beds were very firm, squeaky, and the pillows were old and very flat. The bedspread had some questionable stains on it. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel we experienced during our Costa Rican vacation. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

This place has the best location and views and the rooms are adequate but quite comfortless and cold. The dining hall reminded me of my school days, a huge refectory which felt very empty and unwelcoming. I was part of a groups of 21 and they put on breakfast for us specially early one day, which was helpful, but when... More

This was our second stay at this hotel. We stayed in a superior room (worth the extra to get the better view and large bathroom) and had no complaints. Room had two queen beds, large balcony, tv, and small fridge. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant food is poor but breakfast was adequate. Monteverde is our favorite place in... More

We stayed at the Hotel Montana Monteverde as part of a tour through Sunnyland Tours, who did an excellent job arranging transfers, tours and free time. We traveled from Arenal to Santa Elena via boat across Arenal Lake and then a shuttle. I traveled with extended family: my husband and two children ages 11 and 9, my parents and sister.... More

Unfortunately this hotel has seen better days. While the location is great if you have a car and the staff were excellent the hotel itself is run down anmd has seen better days. The drains in our bathroom smelt and we saw a cockroach (fortunately as we were leaving).

Poorest hotel I've stayed at in Costa Rica. Staff were quite helpful but not much else going for it. Bedrooms are spread over a hillside, so not particularly accessible - especially when it's wet and windy, and you're dragging a suitcase. Restaurant staff friendly but the food was poor, especially compared to what's available in the town - so best... More

Hotel staff was fluent in English, very friendly and anxious to help us enjoy our time. They arranged for us to take the Night Tour -- which we would strongly recommend. The hotel itself is a fair distance up the hill from town. The only traffic is that going up the hill to the Cloud Forest, so you do feel... More

We stayed for two nights. The breakfast is poor. There is no buffet and very few options. It was cold in the rooms and restaurant. The hotel needs a refurbishment. The view is nice and the reception staff very helpful.
