This place was a perfect place to stay and the restaurant was outstanding, the breakfast was a full spread with plenty to chose from we ended up staying 2 night, the high winds at night made it a very nice night and made it so easy to relax and fall asleep.

What we liked most about this hotel was its grounds. They did a great job in creating nice corners to sit everywhere. It all looks very well maintained and it's just a pleasure to walk around and notice all details. The location of the property is very good as well, as you have the tranquility of not being on the... This hotel has good rooms with ensuite, the restaurant is open all day and serves good food. The staff are helpful and pleasant. This is a good value hotel. We did a tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest with a guide recommended by the hotel but we felt that he didn't know his stuff and would have preferred someone with... More

We went to a country lodge expecting a country lodge, and that is what we got. Nothing I'm about to write is going to complain about the level of amenities. If you're expecting a butler, a bell boy and 100 channels on cable TV, you're at the wrong place (it doesn't exist in Monteverde anyway). The Good: 1. The Front... More

Dear Mr Brian. Thank you for your comments, for the compliments as well as the Bad. We´ll work hard in both aspects. The hotel is three years old,, I don’t know what you mean for update,, and old mattresses: mattresses are two years old and they have a guarantee for life policy,, ( the best brand in the market in... This place was decidedly three star. Of all the places we stayed in CR, it was by far the most basic. The room and grounds were clean, but the beds were on their last springs, the rooms small, the wifi weak in the rooms, breakfast was eh, the bathrooms didn't have a vanity or even a ledge to place things... Dear Mrs/Miss Tammy: Thank you for your review. Monteverde Country Lodge has its strengths and weaknesses, we are still fixing a lot of those, we do have a new section of the property that offers more comforts, new equipment, new amenities and more isolation among others. We must better our wi fi connection, that is true, nevertheless it does work... More

We stayed for three nights at Monteverde Country Lodge in March 2015. It's no secret that this hotel is 3 star and consequently quite basic. We chose this hotel, however, for its location. The walk to Santa Elena town centre is only about twenty minutes, which was a big plus for us as it enabled us to get out and... More

Dear Mrs Purple. Thank you very much for your very complete, nice review. My husband and I stayed here for one night on our tour of CR. The buildings, location and grounds were beautiful. I loved that it was a sustainable building! Front desk people were super friendly and helpful. They gave us suggestions for activities and then helped book us a tour. We had breakfast included which was good with a lot... More

Monteverde Country Lodge is a "posh" hotel in the very small town of Santa Elena in Costa Rica. The rooms are great and the bathrooms are fine. Reception was painless and a welcome drink was on offer.. The dining rooms was spacious but the bar was rather small. Breakfast was good. There were two problems: Firstly the staff are slow... More

We had a very nice room on the second floor overlooking the courtyard. It was very pleasant to sit on the small deck and look for birds (we saw a toucan and other interesting birds on the grounds).
