There are only two bathrooms for more than 20 people! The check out is very early so it a thing to consider and also if you are a light sleeper because the hotel is located in a very noisy street! We ask for instructions to take a bus and the girl in the reception did not know (even if it... More

Well I saw the place and seemed real chill and fine to spend a night or 2 but theres a catch the employees are lazy and they dont give a damn about you in general, even though the boss is pretty cool. Oh and heres the great surprise be after 6pm and probably they will sell your room to someone... More

Ok, but nothing more. 20dollar for a Privateroom with shared bathroom. Only 2 toilets and showers for about 20 People. Cold shower. Breakfast included, that's was bread with two eggs and some fruit. Good wifi, Nice Staff, exept the manager Who was allways angry and yelling at his Staff in front of all the guests. Made us all very uncorfortable...Plus... More

I only stayed here because i couldn't find anything else. The staff was really lazy and not helpfull. Messed up my reservation and ended up giving me someone elses reservation because they weren't there on time. Dirty understocked kitchen and stained bedding. No lockers in dorm and bad wifi. $15 a night, you can find nicer places for less. Really... More

The owner of the place was pretty cool but the staff is terrible. About 30 minutes before the bus showed up to leave monteverda I wanted to take a shower. The front desk guy refused to give me a towel without a $5 deposit. I didn't have cash and they don't take card and wouldn't hold my passport for collateral.... More

Perfect hostel for backpackers, who are in Monteverde to experience all the great activities. The owner knows all about the many different companies that offers these activities and offers his advice. There is breakfast included in the price and it is generally a cheap places to stay, but the beds are comfortable and the staff really nice and welcoming. We... More

Me and my girlfriend we arrived without accommodation in Monteverde and we were convinced in the bus station to see El Tucan. The private room with bathroom looked ok and we checked in. Big mistake. The hostel is at the main road between hills and is very noisy because of the cars or motorcycles trying to climb the hills. The... More

We arrived late in Santa Elena and were too exhausted to keep checking rooms, so decided to go with El Tuncan as the owner promised us a great price, discount on tours and a good breakfast included. The truth is all he is interested in is your money! We hadn't even had a chance to put down our bags, and... More

The place itself is good for backpackers: clean and rather unexpensive. Unfortunately I have to say the employees weren't the most pleasent since they were always trying to drag us in some kind of tourist trap... We get it that you guys count on the activities your guests do to make your profit but can we please put our bags... More

While our stay wasn't terrible, this establishment really isn't concerned about you enjoying your trip as much as they are about taking your money. Rooms are really cheap/pretty clean and there are complimentary fresh eggs, pineapple, bananas, toast, and coffee for breakfast which is also nice. However, doing things outside of the hostel is a real pain because when asking... More
