As soon as I got out of the bus a guy was waiting and proposing us to stay for a good price at his hotel. He seemed nice at first sight, but once at the reception desk, only money mattered. Their main goal is to sell you (force you) to book a tour. The staff is very unfriendly! Beds are... More

Disgusting beds, I suspect it was soiled with human semen... We were promised to get breakfast although we had to leave early in the morning. Unfortunetaly nothing was further from the truth. Personal for check-out in the morning was too late, almost causing us to miss our bus. Furthermore, as soon as we had a complain no one was able... More

I will not stay in town again. Most of the receptionists will recommend places to go and will be willing to book all your tours because they will at least get $10 per each person they send to this so call "tourist attractions". Safety, honesty and conservation of the forest is not important for these people. You may think you... More

I stayed there in June 2015, and my experience was HORRIBLE. I had a private room, and in the middle of the night I realize I was being HEAVILY BITED by flees which were all over the place. There were so many that the sheets were all full of bloodstains, after I tried to kill the ones I saw. See... More

We just spent one night here and had a very good experience. Our room was very clean and appeared to have been recently decorated (room #1). The staff, Monkey, was helpful and booked us onto a fantastic night tour - it's one of our Costa Rican highlights, definitely a must do. We didn't get to sample the breakfast as we... More

At first sight everything looks good here, but in the night this place turned into a loud hostel with youngster screaming and running around until after 02:30 am. When i wanted to move to another hostel the next day, i had to pay for an extra night too. The staff and owner is very unfriendly and dont give anything about... More

This was the worst hostel/hotel experience we've ever had. We checked into our room at Hotel El Tucan and paid for 2 nights accomodation. We were given the sales pitch re. doing night time walk or ziplines by one of the junior staff who was perfectly pleasant, but said we'd have a look around before booking anything. We were told... It's a nice place to stay. The room and bathroom were clean. Only the shower is a bit strange, the water is super hot or cold. Nothing in between. Also the wall re super thin, so you basically hear everything. Nice breakfast with toast, eggs and some fruit (but you have to make it yourself). The staff is just really... More

This place is full of bed bugs.. need I say more? After spending a night I was covered in insanely itchy bites.. even some on my neck and face. I would suggest stearing clear. The staff were nice other than the (in my opinion) terrible way they dealt with this and the place was pretty good for someone backpacking but... More
