We travel a lot and don't have high standards. If you read my other reviews you would know this. We hate resorts and like quaint getaways. This is neither. We booked at Camino Verde but ended up across the street and Hotel Atardecer. It is cute looking and we thought ok. We got ushered to our room to find 2... More

I stayed at this hotel for two nights on a tour with gAdventures. It was the best place we stayed at during our trip. The rooms are basic, but in very good shape. Everything is very clean. The hotel layout is nice with the rooms wrapped around an inner courtyard on two floors, so there is loads of space to... More

Great hotel! Five minute walk from a huge supermarket and maximum ten minute walk to Monteverde centrum. Good rooms, clean and big. Friendly staff, family hangs around in the restaurant all day long. They close the restaurant and everything else at 8.30 and then it is more or less quiet so it isn't suitable for people who want to hang... More

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Rooms were big and clean. Breakfasts were incredible and the staff super friendly. We highly recommend this place. They even helped us with tours and recommended good restaurants in the area. If you want an inexpensive, but friendly, clean and comfortable hotel this is your place.

We stayed here with an educational tour group. It was certainly not a 5 star hotel but it was definitely comfortable and the staff was so friendly. This stop was midway on a 10 day tour of the country and all the accommodations were made for us through the tour. All three meals during the entire tour were generally provided... More

Stayed here with a group of students. This place was our favorite. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The dining room has free wifi and a computer for internet access. The location is great as it is just a 5 minute walk to town and also a quick drive to a zipline/horseback riding location.Rosita and family are wonderful cooks and... More

This beautiful, family-owned hotel is located 3 minutes walk out of the city centre, sparing it from the hustle and bustle and the loud noise. Owners Rosita and her daughter Christine are the most hospitable hosts as are the children who frequently visit the hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean, showers are huge compared to local standards and there is... More

Among the dirt roads Hotel Atardecer emerges. The staff was wonderful and made excellent breakfasts. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable. Bathrooms were clean with huge showers. The courtyard was beautiful. Rosita was a wonderful hostess along with her daughter. The dining room had free hi speed internet - not available in the rooms. TV and phone were absent... More

An affordable bed & breakfast hotel walking distance to the center of Santa Elena. Great sunset views from upper story, which looks out over the Nicoya Gulf. The family who owns and operates the Atardecer are wonderful, though their English skills are limited, so be prepared to use your Spanish. Breakfast was generous and tasty. Rooms were small but clean... More
