Cocomar is a true piece of paradise for travelers who want seclusion, an almost private Pacific coast beach and family-oriented service from the owner and his son Chad. Although Cocomar is about 15 miles from the popular and tourist ridden Manuel Antonio National Park, it is a truly picturesque and affordable option for those who are looking for a more... More

We stayed at Cocomar in January of 2013 and really enjoyed our stay. The beach was almost always nearly deserted and was wonderful to sit and watch the sunsets on and walk. The grounds are fairly well kept and there is a nice pool but who needs the pool with the ocean just a short walk away. The service and... More

Staying at Cocomar on the Isla de Palo Seco in Costa Rica in March was pure pleasure! A huge slice of paradise! My feet and soul long to be back! Missing walking the secluded beach and finding treasures in the sea shells, sand dollars, colorful stones, and pieces of artistic driftwood. Missing the very fine brown sand, the mighty waves,... We stayed here for 4 nights and did not want to leave. We loved being steps away from the beach, where we relaxed in the shade of palm trees and read or went for walks every morning after a delicious buffet-style breakfast that included amazing pancakes, breads, rice and beans, sausage, eggs, plantains, fresh fruit and juices and great coffee.... We have been home now for a few weeks from our Costa Rica trip and I think of Cocomar everyday with longing. If you are looking for something off the beaten path this is it. We booked a regular room but when we got there we were upgraded to a huge beautiful suite with a unbelievable view. The rooms, grounds,... More

If you've come to Costa Rica for the tropical weather, you'll appreciate your unbearably hot room with an air conditioner that blows hot air. If you've come to Costa Rica for the biodiversity of wildlife, you'll appreciate the many uninvited pests (ants, cockroaches) who will keep you company in your hotel room. If you came to Costa Rica for the... More
