Good location right on the beach. VERY poor wifi, for which there is no excuse, as every other place in Unawatuna had better wifi, including next door! Rooms pretty basic for the price, and no doors between the bedroom and bathroom. Definitely not for new couples! Nothing left to the imagination let's just say. Overall for $120 a night, not... More

It's a pity this beautiful place only have four rooms...... Among numerous basic alternatives this hotel really stand out. Additionally the restaurant is outstanding. Due to the fact that they make everything from scrath some waiting can be experienced but it is worth while. Excellent staff and did I mention awsome moijitos ?

Absolutely loved this place - rooms were large and spotless (keep in mind no door from bathroom so plan who you're staying with!), lovely comfortable beds, A/C and a balcony area outside where we could chill in the evenings. All this overlooking the sea! About a 5 second walk to the beach with sun beds for peaceful lounging - very... More

The rooms are 5 Star quality, extremely well maintained. The beach is great and the food is amazing. The staff is very attentive and strive to meet any need you might have. I was here in the off season and managed to get a room. If you're visiting in the high season, book way in advance because there is only... More

Off season in Unawatuna so actually managed to bag one of the top floor rooms for the first time in two years . Rooms are spacious and spotless. For a beach side location these simple yet stylish rooms offer you all you need including a big outside area, kingsize comfortable bed, big well laid out bath room, no door though.... More

We came to the Kingsfisher from a different hotel (which was ok, but not quite what we were looking for). A friend had recommended the restaurant to us so we checked it out and oh, how lovely did we eat. After that dinner we decided to change our hotel for we also liked the location and style of the Kingfisher... More

We spent a week at the Kingfisher to chill out after a two week tour of Sri Lanka. We loved the hotel - the room was spacious with a large balcony, the food was wonderful and the management and staff could not do enough for us. We could have gone out to eat as there are several restaurants nearby but... More

We stayed here for 7 nights and literally didn't move from the hotel and beach which is a first for us because we usually like to try different restaurants every night. The rooms were spacious, spotless and very comfortable, we liked the subdued lighting and did manage to read using it. The balcony was spacious and had spectacular views x... More

Part of my review, I suppose, is biased by the beach - Una is not a gorgeous beach. As other people have commented, a lot of the sand is eaten away or just completely encroached upon by shacks and restuarants and other eyesores. It's still attractive, just not pristine paradise. The Kingfisher is lovely and modern in terms of décor,... More

I discovered Kingfisher restaurant on Unawatuna Beach when some expat friends took me there for dinner, boasting (as locals often do) that it served “the best food on the bay”. They were not wrong. The freshly caught line fish was cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, local dishes were authentic and not overly spiced, there was a perfectly... More
