We staid two nights at Banana Garden Hotel as we wanted to have both: Visit Galle and hang out at the beach. It is nicely located in a rather calm area directly at the waterfront. We had a room with wonderfull seaview for 65Dollars/night, breakfast included. Salya, the manager was very helpful and told us interesting things about Sri Lankan... More

Spent one night there by accident because I confused the hotel with another Banana Garden in Mirissa. Double check your location, its missleading, they are both Matara Road. The hotel is right at the sealine with a tiny swimming option. The staff and food is ok, no problem. Our room was a bit dark, very weak shower but nothing you... More

So happy to find this place! The hotel is charming with amazing views of Unawatuna beach and has a great little beach of its own. The rooms are basic but have everything you need, including the view which is far better than our 5 star hotel in Colombo! The food is really good and both breakfast and dinner are included... More

We stayed at a Banana garden last few days and our experience was not good at all. The rooms were basic and the food was AWFUL. I was served undercooked chicken on the very first night with blood oozing out of the bone (quite disgusting really!) and when I pointed it out I was first told that's how grilled chicken... More

With the changing conditions there is only the sea at the front of this hotel. The beach sand has moved to the other end of the bay. Waves splashing almost through the lower floors! To get to the beach a dangerous walk along the busy main road.

My husband and I were craving tiger prawns so our tuk tuk driver took us straight here. We would probably not have discovered it otherwise. We ordered the tiger prawns with garlic and butter, and were not disappointed! It was extremely scrumptious and was served with fries and cous cous with veggies. It is perfect for travelers on a budget,... More

Comparing with several others hotels (it's not my 1st time in Sri Lanka), i was pleasently surprise of quality of services, delicious food and great portions for adequate price. Top 5 points you want to come back to this hotel: - the most amazing view in Unawatuna - close enough to the entertainment part of beach, but not to much... More

Overall, this hotel is a good place to stay but I am sure there are better places in Unawatuna (you just need to book in advance). Advantages - The view is amazing because the hotel is literally located on the beach. - You can have breakfast, lunch and beers while lying on the sunbeds. - The sea is clear and... More

Banana Garden Restaurant and hotel seemed to be a new spot. Not all light fixtures and decorations are in place but the rooms are large, clean and surprisingly quiet (despite its distance to the main road). We were on third floor and really enjoyed our view to the ocean. Rooms were nice too (no AC). We very much enjoyed our... More
