We booked 2 nights under canvas and guided bird watching. The setting is magnificent. The camp staff very helpful, friendly and hospitable. Delicious curries! There were few other visitors (19th - 21st march 2015). The bird guide was first class and he showed us many endemic birds to this part of the Western Ghats during 2 early morning excursions. The... Stayed 2 nights in a river-front cabin. Rooms are well appointed with balconies, en suite facilities and blend well into the attractive natural setting. The camp offers great possibilities for cycling, kayaking, walking and is as good as gets for bird watching. Buffet -style, freshly cooked meals are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner in an open, river- front setting.... More

We stayed for one night at this camp during a 12-day bike tour in Kerala. In this lodge it is hard to believe that there are billions of people in India. It is isolated and quiet except for the religious music in a nearby village. This is the highlight of this place along with guided evening bird watching on the... More

We have just spent two nights at The Hornbill Camp and was totally amazed by this fantastic location. It felt like paradise. The tents are clean and roomy and the food is absolutely superb. Stunning scenery and the setting is perfect. Had a good morning birding with a guide. Fantastic friendly staff - would love to return

We stayed here during a 4 day cycling tour. It catered for all our needs. The bungalows were charming and clean and there was plenty of hot water. We had light, a fan and sockets for charging. The views from the Veranda were idyllic across the river and we had no trouble bird spotting although we are not experts. We... More

Checked in on 30th January, 2015. Firstly had lunch and then checked in. Very friendly and great service. No delays, great food. Cycling experience was brilliant, lots of outdoor games available. Main attraction is the Kayaking, great experience, enjoyed it. If not done prior, great place to start it. There is a guide too to take us along. Lots of... More

Situated in a beautiful spot on the Periyar river the camp has tented cabins with fan and good showers. Birding is the main pursuit both on an early tour or just local to the camp. Kayaking is good but only available at certain times with a (free) guide. No swimming at the campsite but we found an easy entrance just... More

We stayed at the Camp for three nights whilst birdwatching in the area, the tented accommodation was clean but basic and adequate. The camp is set beside the river with good views and nice aspects. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the food was very good! Whether you are exploring the area or just want an oasis of... More

Pros: 1. Great location on the banks of Periyar river with great view from tent. 2. Good huts which melt with the jungle. 3. Guides to assist in canoeing and bird watching. 4. Has a common place to have food and equipped with essential sporting stuff like cycles, carom boards..... 5. Staff are friendly. Cons: 1. Food is a bit... More
