We stayed a couple of nights while exploring the surrounding area and were quickly made to feel at home. The lodge fits perfectly into its environment, the staff delightful, rooms well fitted and comfortable, everything spotlessly clean. It's simple luxury rather than high-end 5 star with all the bells and whistles but that's in its favour I think. Food excellent... More

I spent a week at Murchison River Lodge enjoying game drives, yoga and massage. The lodge has accommodation options to suit all budgets, the food was amazing and the chance to stretch after a game drive and to get my safari sore muscles rubbed made it even better. The staff are helpful and all have genuine smiles on their faces.... More

We had such a lovely time at this lodge! Facilities are very neat and clean, staff very helpful and friendly. The kids loved the pool and sand-pit. The food is great and we even received a packed breakfast for our morning game drive. We will return for another visit without a doubt!

This was an amazing place. Chris and Astrid have a great team working under them, so the service was superb, but still relaxed and friendly. The thatched tents were really comfortable with proper beds, loos and showers. Food great. Magical evenings looking down on the river, listening to the sound of the hippos mixing with the african music playing by... More

We've been twice now. We have kids under age 11. Prices are good, there's a pool to chuck the kids in to wash off the post-safari dust, lovely bar/restaurant area that overlooks the Nile - perfect for a sundowner. Staff and managers are fab. I arrived grumpy and tired after a long drive and we were a bed short in... More

This is a real gem of a lodge, on the banks of the River Nile in Uganda. We stayed in the 'tent' style accommodation, which is more of a permanent structure made of canvas! The beds were very comfortable, and the semi-outside bathroom looked great and worked well (although no hot water; not uncommon in rural Uganda). Not a place... More

The place is nice, and it's in the perfect location. The staff all tried very hard and were great. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a stop over before crossing North over the Nile the next morning. However, the management were just not there. The staff had no instructions as to what to do when we arrived... More

We stayed in Murchison River Lodge for 2 nights in October 2014. We chose the family lodge and found the settings for the lodge ideal for our family of 4, with a double bed upstairs and two single beds downstairs. The small terrasse, equipped with a sofa and a hamac, was amazing at night, allowing us to watch the shooting... More

After spending several weeks volunteering in the south-west of the country, my group had decided to take a few days to relax before embarking on our next volunteering stint, and had pre-booked MRL before we left home. We arrived at 5pm after driving 11 hours to get there. Imagine our shock when, upon disembarking from our vehicle in the camping... More

Dear Clarafina, Thank you for your review about your recent stay at Murchison River Lodge, though with you visiting from Australia where bushfires are a common occurrence your comment has certainly surprised us. Our managers and staff of almost 60 went above and beyond the call of duty that day to prevent what was potentially a very serious situation from... More

Me and my family, a group of eleven, spent four nights on our safari trip at Murchison River Lodge. We had a great time! The safari was fantastic, and the good housing and food at Murchison River Lodge med our stay perfect! First of all I want to thank the managers, a very nice South African couple, for the council... Dear Linus, It was a pleasure to host your group at the lodge over New Year and we're glad that everyone had a great time. With regards to the free wifi this is something we had thought long and hard about installing, and after consistent client feedback we finally succumbed! However it is only available in the pool lounge and... More
