The night porter, David, hit on me when I was there and kept saying he wanted to take me to his farm. One night upon returning he jumped on me when I was trying to get my key. And he was shirtless to make it all that much more awful. I happened to run into him when I returned to... More

Trying to set some of my classmate's experiences aside (which would land this place a "terrible review in an instant) my experience here was mediocre when compared to our other hotel stays in Uganda. Shared a 2 bed room that was reasonably spacious but lacked a tub for bathing (we had to keep requesting to borrow one as it appears... More

I stayed here twice during my two month visit. Although its fairly basic, the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Rooms were always extremely clean, had large bug nets, clean towels and bed sheets. You also receive a free breakfast in the morning- coffee, tea, chapati, fruit and hard bowl eggs. It is in a great, central location and extremely... More

This is an ok hotel to stay at if you are on a budget in Gulu. It's perfectly adequate. It's relatively clean, the rooms are ok (kind of old bed, simple bathroom/shower, etc) but what do you expect for 40,000 - 60,000 UGX a night? I also found the breakfast reasonable and the front desk staff friendly. Given that there... More

They shouldn't call themself ''hotel''! Rooms are not so clean, lot of hears in the bathroom, no hot water, you get only one device (don't know the name) for pushing away the water that remain after having shower, no broom so you can clean floor, doors and windows don't seal well so lot of mosquitos, no even soap in the... I have been a regular visitor to Gulu for almost eight years now including having lived there for a year. I have stayed a number of places prior to the opening of the Acholi Ber. First of all, most that visit Gulu nowadays - in the last couple of years - do not realize the quality of this hotel compared... More

If you're looking for a hotel in Gulu that offers the best quality (without sacrificing comfort or small luxuries), then look no further! The rooms are well kept as is the hotel in general. Staff are always cordial and willing to bend-over backwards to accommodate you. The Acholi Inn (some minutes out of town) can be up to 3 times... More

The good: The Acholi Ber Hotel is hands down the best hotel in Gulu. The price can't be beat and the even better reviewed hotel's room don't compare. The rooms are new, freshly painted, all have fans and a small desk along with lovely big full sized beds and clean linens. The breakfasts are basic but good. You can ask... More

Acholi Ber Country Hotel (aka Country Hotel among bodas) is a hidden treasure among overpriced and worn down hostels and hotels in Gulu. The rooms are spacious and clean, self-contained with hot water, beds good, staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms facing the street have a wide balcony - a top spot to read your paper or follow life... More

Acholi Ber is owned and run by lovely people. It is only 1 year old, and the best deal in the town for sure. The rooms are spacious, and range from about $11 - $30 something per night. Running (hot) water in rooms, sit-down toilet, all rooms are self-contained. Room comes with bed and mosquito net. I lived here for... More
