We did the 7 day national park package, and it was great. From being picked up at the harbour on day one to leaving, couldn't fault a thing, everything was so well organised. The hess family are so welcoming and friendly, and nothing seems to be too much trouble, all is done for you. The food is excellent and all... More

Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge is a slice of heaven in Halibut Cove, Alaska. From arrival to departure the staff was very polite, accommodating, and kind. This lodge is a fun and friendly atmosphere. (Don't expect white table cloths and fine china... Expect hearty, filling meals served family style. Expect fun outdoor Bon fires making s'mores, dock fishing, row boat paddling,... More

I stayed here with my wife and 5 children. Jordan and his wife do a great job running the place. The food was excellent. The scenery is beautiful. We did the Bear Watching, Hike to and Kayak on the glacial lake, and Kayaking on the bay. All the activities were worthwhile. I have nothing negative to say about our stay.

We have stayed at Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge on both of our visits to Alaska (2010 & 2014) and would go back in a minute. The location is everything for this wilderness lodge and provides a true adventure away from the tours when in Alaska. During our last visit on our boat ride to the lodge we were greeted by... More

Following a beautiful and scenic boat ride across Kachemak Bay, it was lovely to spend three nights in such a beautiful location. My wife and I traveled with my mother and my 2 children. The lodge setting is almost surreally magnificent, with jaw dropping views. We were told that the accommodations- individual log cabins- would be simple - but it... More

First of all. Wow! If you’re wanting to experience the best Alaska has to offer, this place is for you. Everything we wanted to do in Alaska, happened at this place. My girlfriend and I visited there June of 2014 and according to the owner, Jordan, had been blessed with perfect weather. This left us wide open with endless choices... More

I enjoyed every minute while staying at Hideaway Cove Lodge. You can only get to the lodge by boat and the setting is fantastic. I saw sea otters each day, and lots of eagles. One bear was spotted on the distant shore. No whales but I did see a porpoise. The views are amazing! The cabins are very comfortable. Mine... More

Beautiful site, but extremely overpriced. Recent stay was not what we expected after speaking personally with the owner when we booked our trip, evidently some changes have occured. Breakfast and dinner are basic homecooked meals, but lunch is a whole different story, basic sandwich, bagged chips and granola bars, never saw any fruit. The last day of our stay most of... More

Thank you for your feedback. First of all, we are sorry your stay this past August was less than you expected. Sadly, we can do nothing about the weather, and this past August was one of the rainiest on record. Non-stop rain can surely "dampen" ones vacation. Concerning our prices, we strive to give an authentic wilderness experience at a... More

This is a great wilderness lodge, but upscale is false advertising. Tours are fun, we had a great time kayaking. Meals are basic--not gourmet--but very good. Small staff was overworked, one woman wasn't even being paid?! Our heat didn't work, we had no water one day. We had a great time but it's more like comfortable camping than an upscale... More

Thank you for your comments and we are glad that you enjoyed the views, the tours, the lodge and the food! Also, thank you for pointing out that we are not an "upscale" lodge. In fact, guests at Hideaway Cove Lodge want to avoid the "high-end" wilderness resorts and cruises. They are looking for a lower-key, eco-adventure lodge with lots... More

First off, it's my understanding that most of these lodges are normally twice as expensive; however, that's not much of a comfort at these prices (as a couple, we're talking $800 PER DAY) ... the only way this would be worthwhile is if it includes bear viewing or something safari-like exotic. The food was solid (hearty breakfast), but nothing to... More

Thank you for your valuable insights and comments. We appreciate all comments, including ways we can improve! First of all, we are thrilled you thought the views from your ocean-side cabin was "phenomenal" and the bed was "super comfortable". We actually upgraded all our mattresses this year to top-quality Sealy Posturpedic. We are also glad you made good use of... More
