We were two couples nd rated the Rascal and Moonlight cottages in December. The cottages and surroundings were great and the hosts were very nice and accomodating. It was a perfect place to explore the wine country of Central Otago. The hosta garden was beautiful and our stay overall was excellent! Highly recommended

Thanks for reviewing us! We are delighted you enjoyed your time here and wish you could see the gardens now - guest vege garden full of herbs and vegetables for the guests to enjoy and roses and lavender in flower. Glad you enjoyed our vineyards - they are so close and our guests always enjoy the local wines. Kindest wishes, More

We loved staying here for our first wedding anniversary. What a beautiful setting, and a nice warm welcome from Rose and Phil who made us feel at home the moment we stepped in the door. Enjoyed the breakfast with the homemade apricots! Your gardens are amazing and beautiful to walk through. Thanks heaps, we would love to come back and... More

The host at this cottage was so nice and welcoming, and helped make our stay so relaxing! The Rascal cottage was so lovely, I wish I could live there. Loved the free laundry and rustic setting--just a relaxing, lovely place to spend some time (especially enjoyed having the fire on a cool spring night!)

Hi Dsreilly - thank you for taking time to review us - we know it is an extra "chore" in these busy lives we lead, but we do appreciate it. Thank you for your lovely comments. We agree, snuggled up by the fire is a lovely way to relax and unwind. Wish you were here now - the roses, lavender... More

We stayed as a group of three in the celebration cottage, and couldn't be more pleased with the experience! We were warmly greeted by the lovely Rose, who showed us the features of our cottage and provided us with a freshly made breakfast hamper for the following morning (the Apricot conserve was still warm!). We were only here for one... More

The cottages are lovely and in a tranquil and beautiful setting. We stayed in Rascal but the others are equally good. Our hosts, Rose and Phil went out of the way to provide us with a very special experience. It is the perfect place from which to explore the Central Otago vineyards but as the setting is rural you are... More

Hi Jillfromnz - thank you for taking the time to write a review. We enjoyed having you to stay and agree - our cottages are the perfect place to sit and enjoy an evening on the deck after a lovely lunch at the local wineries. Wish you were here now to see all the roses and peonies flowering. Kindest wishes... More

We stayed 3 nights at Burn Cottage Retreat and the only disappointment was that we didn't stay longer. We were in the Rascal Cottage and it was just perfect. Nestled in beautifully designed and maintained gardens with an abundance of bird life. The cottage was private, spotlessly clean and very well layed out with a large living area and well... More

Thank you so much for your kind words. Phil and Rose have created a Garden of Eden. It was a real privilege to share a moment in time. The garden is beautiful, Phil's workmanship is inspiring and the peace and quiet are enveloping. Thank you both for your generosity of spirit. Hope to return soon. Warren

Rose and Phil were sincere, friendly and generous. They compiled a book for guests full of local information, emergency contacts, eat out places and manuals for electronics in the cottage. There was a box of fresh walnuts which was refilled everyday. I think they enjoyed good coffee and generously placed freshly roasted coffee beans in the cottage. Rose turned on... More

We spent one night at one of the cottages at Burn Cottage Retreat in August, 2014. Originally we booked the B&B room, but thanks to the kind offer of an upgrade, we stayed in the Rascal Cottage. From the moment you walk into the rooms, you realise that the photos don't do these cottages justice. The cottages are scrupulously clean, neat and tidy. The rooms are large and roomy, and the fittings are of a high standard. Leather lounges, fully equipped kitchen, and very high quality bed linen. The owners Rose and Phil meet you on arrival,...
