We stayed at Elmhirst as a three generation family last weekend and had a great time as usual. The staff were extremely helpful with our requests and questions. We appreciated the efforts to promote a "green" environment ie composting, sourcing food locally and providing firewood for the fireplaces as an additional heat source. Our granddaughters enjoyed swimming and visiting the... More

My family and friends used to make an annual trip to Elmhirst and found it was a great location for getting together and always lots of activities to keep you busy. So I was really excited to go back as an adult with my friends and get a chance to see how the resort has changed. When we got there... More

We also appreciate your very kind feedback about your restaurant experience. We were all sorry to hear you felt as if the information you passed on during... More

I stayed on January 4th 2015 for one weekend night in the 4 bedroom cottage with 5 other family members and 1 child. We each paid $80 each (child was free) which was a total of $480 for the night. I don't have much to say about the entire resort itself except our cottage because we arrived after 6pm and... More

Hello and thanks very much for taking the time to post your impressions from our Resort. It was actually me who was out clearing the walks and inadvertently "turned down" your cottage. It was an unfriendly weather night and I thought you must have been moved to a different cottage. I'm sorry if it gave you a bit of a... More

I have never spent the night at this resorts cottages but my family and friends including myself have attended the sunday brunch on a few occasions. The spread is very generous and I have noticed that the options stay the same but the chefs change up the desserts and dishes every so often which provides variety which is pleasant. The... More

This is a well-run resort in a classic lake-front location. The grounds are very attractive, organized and well-maintained. There are nature trails on the property, bicycles, a games room, boats and fishing equipment for rent, water cycles, swimming in the lake or the indoor and outdoor pool, and of course the wonderful views of the lake. The main lodge is... More

Difficult to respond as we have no indication of which cottage was so disappointing. All reviews are taken personally by the 46 employees who work towards making each guest stay a positive experience. We regret we were not informed of your concerns during the weekend. Pleaase contact Guest Services ( wilma@elmhirst.com) should you wish to provide details. More

Girls weekend at Elmhirst. Toothpaste stains on the faucets, dried food on the counter, tumbleweeds of hair on the floor. Wads of food in the dishwasher. And this was on arrival. And this is not new, but in fact the trend I have found every year we come up. The grounds are beautiful, the cottage view excellent. But for the... More

I'm sorry you found your stay so completely wanting. We do our best to stay close enough to our guests to be prepared for guest arrival,... More

This was the second year in a row that we had our annual "family-camp" at Elmhirst. The rooms are always clean and excellent. They should probably expand their check in/out area as both visits for us have involved spending a bit more time than should be expected. Don't know about the dinning area, as we always bring all our own... More

I have gone to Elmirst's Resort several times over the past few years. You can't beat the location! Situated on Rice Lake, just south of Peterborough, the view and the ambiance can't be beaten. I noticed this time that they had done some renovations which were a much needed improvement. But the dining room was a big disappointment. We were... More

I stayed in a two-bedroom cottage at Elmhirst's Resort with a girl friend of mine in early fall. It sits in the north shore of Rice Lake, one of best fishing destination in Southern Ontario. The cottage is clean and bright. The view is excellent and serene. What impressed me most is what they all "Elmhirst's blend" which is a... More
