From the outset the staff at this hotel are to be commended, from arrival to departure they were all friendly and polite. As stated by others this hotel has very dated decor, probably about 25 yrs since it had a makeover, going by the style, although, it can be difficult to balance investment in modernisation, with the loss of income,... By no stretch of the imagination should you expect 5* hotel accommodation, however what you can expect is excellent value for money. I've been coming here for snowboarding trips for several years now, the rooms are basic, but clean and spacious. Facilities are adequate for what you need, and the hotel breakfast is a no thrills but filling and satisfying... More

Needed to stay at Newtonmore and this looked like a good place to try. From the outset, the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly - couldn't fault them. Room was a good size with everything we needed. Wifi only available in the main building, not in rooms. Lovely big, comfortable, residents lounge available. Breakfast was standard fare but "hot" food,... More

Stayed there with our 2 children & in-laws for 2 nights dinner bed & breakfast. About 20 mins into Aviemore by car and loads to do in the area. Staff were absolutely amazing, very friendly, polite & efficient & room was spotless. Food was excellent value for money. (Children's portions would feed a small family!) Decor was a bit dated... From start to finish rooms/food/staff and surroundings excellent, first visit with friends who had been before. Well done James and family and staff,we certainly will be back, great value thanks again you all made our visit memorable One observation as being in the holiday cottage trade ,suggest pillow protectors as this is more hygienic and avoids staining

Just returned from spending new year at the hotel, or should I say a winter wonderland hotel. I have never seen a hotel so beautifully decorated. The staff were excellent and hardworking. The food was excellent. What a menu for the three days. It was all the little extras, I would go back for the hot chocolate alone. The room... More

We stayed here for 3 nights, food great, staff very friendly and hard working. Ideal location for Aviemore and visiting the ski resort, no need to pay over the odds to stay in resort. Will definitely be returning next year!

If there is a downside to this hotel it is the place is maybe a little dated but honestly who cares when he managers and staff are so brilliant? We were made so welcome and my 8 year old granddaughter may have been a bit of a pest but we were all impressed by the good natured staff. The Christmas... More

Not long back from a chilled out weekend at the Highlander Hotel along with our dog. Hotel was done up like winter/christmas wonderland, brilliant even in November. The room was big, comfortable and warm. Plenty room for Dogs travel kennel. Looked like bathroom recently refurbished. Dinner and breakfast was very tasty. Its like a 80's style Motel but had a... The Hotel is vast with good ground and surrounding area. The rooms are also very nice and large But the bathrooms played spoilsport. The basin was inconvenient and so was the shower.Definitely no thought given to tall and heavier people.A good scope to injure oneself in the limited space. Vegetarians are in for trouble as not many or "only one'... More
