On leaving the hotel I said to the staff I would write a review as seeing some of the others on here made me feel the hotel could be “hit or miss” and I wanted to give my opinion on the Highlander Hotel. I imagine a few of the reviews are outdated now but can only give you my honest... more

To be fair the hotel is clean, staff are friendly and rooms basic but adequate. Two nights bed and breakfast for a family of 4 for £76 can't be sneezed at, however we did eat in the hotel one night and the food quality was of school dinner standard. As a cheap base for exploring the Cairngorms it was excellent... more

We are sorry that your meal at the Highlander did not meet with your expectations and having checked with the duty manager who served you we are disappointed that you did not make your feelings known at the time so we could have perhaps offered an alternative. We receive a lot of praise for the quality our food and although...

We were a bit worried on arrival as the hotel looked a little "tacky" on the outside but was very pleasantly surprised when we got to our room. We had a king size bed in a large room with excellent bathroom facilities. Despite being a couple in a hotel that catered for large groups we were made to feel welcome... more

After reading the reviews of this Hotel by previous contributors we were a little apprehensive as to what we would find. However upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly Reception Staff and found the Reception and Bedrooms clean and comfortable. Maybe the decor was not to everyones taste but nothing wrong with it. Considering there were three Coach parties... more

We stayed here on our escorted bus tour. I'd compare this hotel to a Best Western or Howard Johnson's with a standard room. it was clean and in a residential area in a quiet neighborhood. It was nicely landscaped. The hotel provided dnner to our tour group and it was very good. The staff was very friendly. Considering the small... more

As you can see from the various responses we have received everyone has different expectations and I am sorry that the hotel did not meet with yours. We would like to add that the pictures on the website are current and are a true reflection of the hotel.

Had a good stay despite the hotel being very similiar to Fawlty Towers, we just didn't find Basil! Decor in public areas very outdated, lovely if you enjoy a 70's revival! Meals very strange combinations - one night they served up with fish smothered in a prawn sauce with new potatoes sprouts and very salty cabbage ( I mean very... more

We are sorry that some aspects of your stay with us here at the Highlander did not meet with your expectations. We had a couple of new staff members and although they had their induction training you can appreciate that when they are faced with a full restaurant of 150 customers they can be a little daunted until they find...

Great friendly staff to look after you, lots of customer parking, excellent food with a menu that changes every day, wi-fi in lounge, bar with outdoor picnic area for better weather, basic rooms but very clean and comfortable and rooms have televisions with freeview. Golf course near by, great local pubs and restaurants, Highland Wildlife Park just a short drive... more

£100 for 2 people dbb for 2 nights. Food was average, considering how cheap the deal was, I was more than happy. Great base to go hill-walking or golfing in the area. Staff very helpful and place was v clean. Would def go again. more
