We recently spent a night at the Balavil travelling with friends, we were made to feel very welcome and were allocated a nice room which appeared to have been recently refurbished. The room itself was spotless with 2 comfortable chairs and a nice flat screen television The bathroom was likewise spotless and recently refurbished. Dont expect expensive toiletries etc to... More

Booked up with Fraser for a business stay for myself and colleague. Really good value single room. Spacious. Could probably not find such a good price for B and B in the Highlands in June in another hotel. Beds were comfortable, plenty hot water. Ate at the hotel on second night and had really good service from young, focused, local... More

Stayed in a few hotels in May on a tour of the Outer Hebrides, and stayed here on the way home. the hotel is clean and tidy, cannot fault the assistance when asking for an iron and ironing table, the staff on reception carried it up the stairs for me. Our room consisted of a large airy room with double... More

Arranged a weekend of golf and meeting up with old friends. The Balavil was our base and we played Kingussie on Friday and Newtonmore on Saturday. Fraser met us on Friday at reception and his warm welcome was the start of a wonderful weekend. The hotel has the most friendly staff I have come across. Everything is dealt with fast,... More

Thanks for a great weekend! Hotel is great - good choice of food on offer for evening meal. Breakfast was nice too - all freshly made so no food has been hanging about for ages (my pet hate) Rooms were of a decent standard but more importantly - they were clean :) The staff in this hotel are one of... Great food, really nice room, fantastic food and Fraser is a star. Lovely swimming pool and Sauna. Breakfast was a treat, order taken and cooked individually. The service at dinner was excellent, wonderful staff and a session in the pool and sauna after completing the Wildcat walk was life saving!

My wife and I stayed Fri and Sat night of the Easter weekend. We love the area so the location is perfect for us and it was easy to park close to the hotel. Our room in the extension was very clean and comfortable. The shower was a bit low on pressure but that didn't bother us. The friendliness of... More

We spent the night here on our way back from Skye. We couldn't believe the quality of the rooms or the food. Absolutely fantastic value for money. The room and on suite were absolutely beautiful and spotless. We could not fault it. We had a few drinks and evening meal. We enjoy people watching so it was good entertainment watching... More

A typical highland hotel, old property, difficult to enhance, so the rooms are in the adequate category. Staff local and pleasant, parking good and right in the middle of Newtonmore. Good access to all the local attractions, including the cat tour which is great fun and good exercise.
