This used to be a B&B, but is now a holiday rental. The house is large with plenty of space for relaxing, etc. The views over the Wye valley are stunning, and we saw numerous Buzzards and some Kestrels. However, apart from those there was a district lack of other bird species - just the 'usual suspects'. The drive way... More

We recently rented "Walnut Tree Cottage" Symonds Yat for a family Christmas break. On arrival the cottage was warm, clean & cosy. All the Chritsmas trimmings were set up - even a tree so we didn't have to take extras! The owners had left a collection of festive goodies for us & our dogs which was very sweet. The views... More

Having taken 2 days off from the busy home counties, we decided to drive to Symonds Yat for some rest and relaxation. Jenny and Keith are wonderful hosts, very caring about their guests and provide a good old fashioned attitude towards making us feel at home. The bedrooms are comfortable, much better than a standard Travelodge or Premier Inn where... More

After trying to book a place in Symonds Yat East at the last minute and finding all were booked out, we decided to book the Walnut Tree Cottage in Symonds Yat West instead. We're so glad we did as it was a lovely stay and we discovered that we preferred the 'west side' anyway. Jennie and Keith are wonderful hosts... More

I am a little confused by the last review of The lovely walnut tree cottage in Symonds Yat? Are you sure you have the right place? It is of course little-it is a cottage! The clue is in the title. I'm sure if you had £80 to spend you would have been more suited to some of the more corporate... More

We had the garrett room (number 5) which was small. The shower and toilet were down some stairs and they were the smallest possible; no room to move an elbow. The fittings were acceptable for a two star room but this was billed as four stars. The tv was a small ( about 15 inches) old portable analogue set with... More

Keith and Jenny are the most fantastic hosts. We stayed New Years Eve for dinner and bed and breakfast. We could not imagine staying anywhere better, nothing is too much trouble, food excellent, rooms immaculate with lots of 'little extras' which definitely made our stay the most comfortable! Highly recommended...I'm even planning our next visit!! Bev and Gina

Stayed here for one night as we were attending a party close by but we wanted somewhere quiet. Owners were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Very quiet with great views. Road up to it is a bit hairy though, you have to go up and turn, believe me, I tried to get round into the steep drive from the... More

It was my first visit to Symonds Yat. When I searched for local hotel reviews, only one listed here was not highly recommended by reviewers. My husband, who had stayed in this area during his company do a couple of years ago, suggested Walnut Tree and I have searched for details on internet. Frankly speaking, I would rather prefer hotels... More
