Parking in Monmouth and enjoying a wonderful riverside walk in thr November sunshine we decided that the two dogs needed a rest - well their owners certainly did. Too used to mediocre wine in pubs and inns my friend was delighted to have what she described as a "fabulous quality wine' correctly served in a chilled glass. My gin and... More

Annual visitors to the Saracens and, as much as we love the place and the surroundings, we felt that it had lost its way a little. As always the food was lovely, the room great, and the surroundings stunning, but the welcome was lacking, the bar staff seemed disinterested, and the late barman didn't even look at us as he... Booked 9 of the 10 rooms for a group of bellringers on a weekend outing. Everyone loved it. Great location right on the river. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Michelle in the resturant. Lovely food, good beer. A perfect destination for a bellringing weekend.

We stopped for lunch at the Saracens Head in the middle of a walk from the Bracelands forestry commission camp site. The food was very good and reasonably priced and there was a good selection of beers and cider. When we were there mid week, it was reasonably quiet but I can imagine it gets packed at weekends and parking... More

Returned here again for about the 15th time, booked to go back again for 4 nights in Feb 2015. Saracens Head is very welcoming, all the staff including the cleaning ladies are very friendly. All the rooms are very clean and modern, with fantastic views. Gets very busy at lunchtimes but service is still quick. Breakfast is a must have!... More

Stunning location, great riverside views with loads of walkers, canoeist's river cruisers and fishermen to watch if you choose to sit outside. This place is busy all year round and this is my second visit. Ten of us had lunch and ten of us thoroughly enjoyed it. I would advise you to book a table in advance to avoid waiting.... More

Stayed overnight in room 3 and was pleasantly surprised by the comfort, cleanliness and views from the room. The food was excellent with a varied menu for dinner, my wife had chicken and I had lamb, both beautifully presented and really tasty. Breakfast was excellent. The location is second to none, alongside the river with a terrace overlooking the hand... More

Returned once again. We had yet another great stay with best friends here for three nights. As always the food, rooms, staff, location was the best you could ever ask for. We stayed in room 8 with the most perfect view whilst sat on the bed looking out of the window. Friends stayed in room 7 which they loved too.... More

Just clocked up 10 years of coming to this lovely place. Great food, great accommodation, very friendly staff and an unbeatable position next to the River Wye. Have already booked for year eleven! I noticed in someones review a complaint about salad and chips with everything - wrong! wrong! wrong! Don't know where they went... Food is not the cheapest... More
