We visited this oldie worlde inn on a day out while staying in the Forest of Dean. The manager couldn't have been more friendly. We had our trusty little furry friend Sally the westie with us and she was made most welcome as well. We opted for the Burger meal for our lunch which was really tasty (could have done... More

A beautiful setting which will benefit from some better weather than we had. Still recovering from a damp winter. Could benefit from a little investment and the chef will add a thing or two. Would love to return in the warmer months.

Was really delighted with the area and specifically the quieter, less commercial west side of the river. Such a treat to be in a place where you can start a lovely, varied walk from the front doorstep of your lodgings. Views from the dining tables and both the bedroom and bathroom windows were idyllic so full marks for location. However,... More

just stayed in the bunk house next to the pub for the weekend. The accomodation was basic with only one shower between 12 but the landlord and staff were SO friendly, helpful and accomodating that it more than made up for it. They even let us hose down our bikes on the slip while they were serving Sunday lunch. Fantastic... More

Excellent stay, food great, slept like a log due to the peace and quiet. Mine host really friendly and if you want a chat he will oblige, funny guy who will help advise on things to do locally (it was my first trip to the area) absolutely and looking forward to staying again, 10/10

The location, food, ambience and service were faultless. Even the landlord (Jamie's) sense of fun. The bunkhouse is perfect if you're looking for cheap and cheerful. Best accommodation experience I've had in a long time - thanks too, to an amazing group from Explorers Connect. I will be coming back every year

This pub is perfectly placed and we stayed in the dorms which were basic but perfectly nice. Perhaps a high proportion of beds to showers but the host was so welcoming and accomdating to us and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed for Friday and Saturday night just as the fishing season was drawing to a close. We could not have been made more welcome. Excellent food and ale served by staff who care. Great selection of real ale and ciders. Food is locally sourced and cooked to a very high standard. Highly recommended.
