Mountain view. Apt for having the traditional Cocido Gallego which is huge and greasy but worth trying..at least once in a lifetime. We had flan as dessert which had nothing extraordinary. Service was very good. Dont forget your cameras for the beautiful views photos. Worth the trip from santiago de compostela.

Like other Spanish Paradores the Parador Monforte de Lemos is located in a beautiful building. The Monforte building was once a Benedictine Monastery and is situated high on the hill where it offers the most spectacular views. History resonates and delights. The entry level has an inviting central court which is surrounded by glassed in cloisters and offers the perfect... More

This was a lovely place to stay, we visited for a few days and not only are the views spectacular but the hotel itself is stunning. This is confirmed by the number of local tourists who come to visit the renovated building. There is a wonderful chapel and some great restaurants near by. The local town is charming and the... Situated at the top of a hill this Parador looks out in all directions. A smaller parador but maybe a little more hospitable, the staff were most informative and helpful from start to finish and reception to the restauarant. Great place to visit the surrounding countryside, wine tasting (very good), walking, or sailing the gorges of the Sacre river. It... More

The Parador is in a splendid position on top of the hill which formed the medieval city of Monforte de Lemos. Staff were great. The pool is small but very pleasant. Well worth walking down into the town part way down the hill one goes through the ruins (only about half the circuit in place) of the medieval town.

Gorgeous place, transports you back in time. Super friendly staff, great value, and perfect to visit the Ribeira Sacra wine region, one of the least traveled in Spain, but one of its most interesting ones too -turning out impressive, inexpensive wines. On the flip side, wi fi doesn't work well in all the rooms (though it is very good in... More

It was a long climb up the hill from the town, but well worth the effort. We were rewarded with a lovely cool restaurant, attentive staff and the most delicious selection of food - almost too much to eat, but we took it slowly!

We found this place quite endearing. Staff were attentive if slightly robotic. The main issue is that it is in need of some TLC and updating. - scuffed walls and restaurant chairs requiring a steam clean and some mould in grout lines in bathroom. We chose dinner bed and breakfast and the dinner was very good. Breakfast buffet limited and... More

Beatiful building on top of a hill that can be seen for miles around. Town of Monforte was unremarkable but the hotel was lovely. Tastefully adapted from a monastry with cloisters etc. It was a bit awkward getting the luggage from the car to the room but I guess that is to be expected in this type of building. Only... More

Stayed here one night while touring the north-west of Spain. Monforte de Lemos has little enough to commend it, if I'm honest - it's not one of those lovely old medieval towns and there's not much to see. The Parador, though, is lovely. It's visible on top of its hill from many miles away and the satnav took us straight... More
