We did not (yet) stay in the hotel. My brother in law and wife stayed and thoroughly enjoyed it. We drove up from Marbella on a sunny Sunday for the most delicious lunch. We took the menu de degustation and were offered 6 courses, everyone equally delicious and original. Plenty of fresh bread, olives and tapenade as well, all included... More

A warm welcome at reception after a long and winding road journey. Wonderful views across the natural park. A little disappointed with restaurant considering other reviews but they were preparing for wedding next day Would certainly return next time we're in the area

Stayed 3 nights in late February, excellent, wonderful views, breakfasts and dinner were both excellent and the room was super. Will definitely go again and enjoy more walks and birding together with wanders round different villages. Staff could not be more helpful with their advice. Only slight problem was the gas went off one evening so no hot water for... More

A great third visit for us and an impressive first for our two friends. Comfortable warm and welcoming. Evening meal delicious (just a note, plates need to be warmed!). Good breakfast, self-service gave fantastic, continental choices. The hotel is a tonic for a hectic life style. Next time going to try spa and champagne suggested by other guests!

We were there September 2013 as two couples, and were incredibly lucky with the weather. Other reviewers bang on about the hiking, nature walks, bird watching and photo opportunities. We didn’t bother with any of that, instead we found in Cerro di Hijar the perfect place to chill out. Good food, particularly the sharing meat and cheese platter with an... More

Nestled on the edge of a national park it offers spectacular vistas and a unique blend of first class food, a wonderful outdoor spa and country like comfort of accommodation. Fabulous hiking from challenging to ambling in the valleys and mountains around. Then come back and relax by the pool and enjoy the gardens. An easy one hour car drive... More

We delight in hotels which are not of the typical international chain type. The Cerro de Hijar is in a fantastic situation and we had the benefit of 2 balconies, both with stunning views (room 13). It is a genuine, rural hotel and although it is off season and quiet it didn't feel empty. We arrived at 2130 and had... More

We cycled from Malaga to Tolox on a 4 day cycling holiday. When we arrived at Tolox, we were already quite tired and realized we had another 4km from town to our hotel. But, the view from Cerro de Hijar made it all worthwhile. Most certainly the best view of Tolox from anywhere. The staff was also very helpful. They... More

We wanted to take our son and his fiancee, first time in Spain, on a special treat and choose Tolox and this hotel. It is situated up on the hillside with great views over the mountains and the village itself. We enjoyed "FotoHiking" and after that the special sauna treat at the hotel with dinner. The staff spoke excellent English... More

Today was a overcast so we decided to leave the Marbella beach area on take a scenic drive up in the mountains. We pasted some charming towns and ended up at the hotel for the most amazing lunch. Olives from the valley below, ham and cheese from the Tolox, local house wine that was delightful (I forgot to ask where... More
