Stayed here for one night while walking part of the GR243 "from Monda to Ronda". Not for the first time, I was fooled by the Booking.com map and believed - very incorrectly - that the hotel was in the centre of the village. I arrived in Tolox after 5.5 h of walking in the November heat (it's true!) from near... More

Hello Professor Thank you very much for taking the time to review Hotel Cerro de Hijar, I am sure your opinion will be of great help to other guests. Fair is fair, we at Cerro de Hijar, are not a luxury hotel but more as you described a "gloriously situated on a mountainside 3* " keeping a good standard of... More

Room ok. Drive is a nightmare in the dark as last few miles of road is very narrow. Only us and one other room occupied. Guy on duty was very officious. I went to my car at 11pm to get something and all the lights in the corridors and foyer switched off and I had to navigate by iPhone torch... More

We visit the hotel every time we stay in Andalucia. It is a beautiful Spanish country house, perched high up in the mountains, with spectacular views over the Guadalhorce Valley and down towards the sea and Malagar. We have eaten there many times, at a table on the lawn and in the shade. I cannot begin to describe the experience... More

We stayed 2 nights on the first floor in a 'suite'. The room was very basic and not what i would classify as a suite as the only extra in the room was a worn sofa but the room had 2 window doors with little balconies and although very basic, the bed was very comfortable and room as cool as... We chose Hotel Cerro de Hijar, based upon impressive reviews and because it ticked every box: A secluded and exclusive location, away from the beaches and family holiday resorts. Travelling as a couple, we booke eleven nights, half board and made our booking directly with the hotel. Our first five nights were spent in a Junior Suite and the remainder... More

Set high above the town of Tolox, this is the perfect place to relax. The only sounds are the birds and maybe a distant dog barking. No music, no TV blaring, just bliss. And the food is superb. That said, the mountain road up to the hotel is not for the nervous or inexperienced driver.

This was my second visit to Cerro de Hijar. The first was in the middle of winter about three years ago, when we arrived late at night to a log fire. This time we enjoyed the delights of high summer - a great swimming pool and the hotel's spectacular natural environment. The rooms are decorated sparingly, but a great deal... More

Wow, what a great stay we had at this little gem in the mountains. The staff are friendly, restaurant was really good and the location was perfect. Nestled above the town of Tolox, this quaint hotel is the ideal getaway to reset your biological clock. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, we were sure that it would not dissappoint. It... This place is unique . The rooms are immaculate and quirky. This would make and ideal honeymoon location. It's truly relaxing. A place to go to get away from it all. This hotel is three star, but I think it's four star. The staff make you feel valued guests. They are friendly and relaxed. The food was magnificent, and is... More
