This was the forth year that we have stayed at Rio Arade and again it was perfect. As a base Rio Arade everything we needed. Top quality private rooms, great breakfasts, excellent pool and surrounding area for R&R, a comfortable lounge and of course John the perfect host. We will be booking for next year very soon. more

Barry & Judy, Malaga, 29 Jan -3 Feb 2009 A gem of a place. Very relaxed, John is a good host. Breakfasts were first class as was the standard of the room. Shame there was no control over the weather, but a good base for exploring the region. more

Myself, my wife and eight-year old son recently went looking for a good-value quality destination for a post-christmas break and were lucky enough to come across the Rio Arade guesthouse. Being January, the night of our arrival was quite chilly, but the cold was dispelled immediately upon stepping trough the doors to be greed by host John and a blazing... more

Stayed at start of November with party of nine. This is a great place clean tidy and nothing you ask John or Carlos to do is to much bother to them to sort out. This is a lovelty spot for a quiet or romantic break. We will all be returning again. more

The Rio Arade is an absolute delight. A beautiful place, made all the more attractive by the warmth of the welcome. As soon as you step off the village street, through the handsome wooden front door, you're in a world of tranquillity. The courtyard - bordered by an explosion of multi-coloured bougainvillea and ending in a small but very inviting... more

We found the Rio Arade a very good base for a holiday in this area. Since there is only one door onto the street, which is kept locked it was very secure, and with the courtyard and pool area being walled in it was very peaceful and quiet. John and Carlos the owners were always availiable to suggest places to... more

To say that Casa Rio Arade was a disappointment after what I had read on Trip Advisor and other reviews is an understatement. I was devastated. I had rented the Casa on behalf of my extended family of 16 largely on the basis of these recommendations and those of Alastair Sawday. It in no way lived up to our expectations.... more

While we respect clients' right to submit reviews which are less than flattering , this particular review is both inaccurate and extremely unfair. It is our policy to exceed our customers expectations and this particular lady did not make her "complaints" known to me at the end of their visit. She agreed in advance ,the price we charged which is...

Taking advantage of the spring "stay two nights, get one free" offer was probably what initially tipped the scales for us in favor of the Rio Arade. Budget travelers that we are, my husband and I were totally enamored with this gem, located in a small fishing village, Mexilhoeira da Carregacao, just minutes from Portimao. In fact, when we first... more

From the moment we arrived at Rio Arade, we were shown nothing but kindness and hospitality from the hosts - the owner John and the Manager Carlos. We arrived very late on the first evening and having flown in by easyjet, we hadn't eaten so were hungry; no problem for Carlos, who at 11:30pm whisked us off to a wonderful... more
