As others have written, the union hotel is in a prime location with a wonderful over the fjord. We were here for two nights and slept well. The buffet dinner is apparently famous and while the food choices and amount was enormous, the crowds and pushing and shoving was truly awful. Wrecked the whole experience really. It also had a... Our room was clean and comfortable, it had recently been refurbished and smelt of paint, it would have been a good idea to have left the window open! Dinner in the restaurant was fine with plenty of choice, but due to the numbers of people dining, an extremely noisy affair. Subsequently we chose to dine in the restaurant Julie on... More

There is not much to complain about, Geiranger is one of the best places on this earth, and the Union Hotel provides the genteel accommodation option to top off your stay nicely. All the rooms have a lovely view, some of the water and some of the hills and waterfalls. It is perched half way up the hill from the... More

After sailing/weaving thru an amazing Fiord for one hour, taking in unbelieveable sights and passing two beautiful cruise ships, we were treated to the most spectacular view at the end of the Fiord, a view we viewed over and over again from our bedroom window. I am from Newfoundland Canada where outstanding landscapes and rouged sights are a common occurrence... More

This hotel has a very nice and "classy" feel. We loved the expansive lobby area and equally large adjoining lounge. It is well appointed and very clean. Our room was large and comfortable. An in-room safe, however, was not provided. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The breakfast buffet was above average in quality and selection. The dinner buffet... More

A lovely hotel with views to fjord. Our room was in older part of hotel, clean, comfortable but slightly dated and no tea making facility. Bath towels rather thin and pool towels not provide. Swimming pool was lovely both indoor and out. The roof top garden was a really lovely place to sit, relax and have a drink. The first... More

The Union hotel adds colonial flair with a modern twist to the port of Geiranger. Although trapped in the tourist hub of the port town with ferries and passenger liners lining the fjord the view from the hotel is to die for. The dining facilities are first class, whilst the motor museum just adds that extra bit of class to... More

The hotel commands a breathtaking view of the fjord and has a great spa, good restaurants and really good staff. Make sure you book a room which overlooks the fjord as some look out the back of the hotel...still an amazing view but not of the fjord. Make sure you eat early in the evening as the restaurant does get... More

This hotel has great views, large rooms and comfy beds. For travellers it also has laundry facilities on some floors (level 4 does). The buffet meal is excellent and breakfast is standard. We were booked in as two night coach stay, but I would stay here again if I came back and try to get a room overlooking the fjord.

I arrived at hotel by boat from Alesund on a drizzly day. We were picked up by the hotels vintage cars from the 1930's. It was unexpected but a lot of fun. I was allocated a room over- looking the fjord. Even in the light rain the view was to die for. I could have sat there all evening looking... More
