We visited Il Poggio during the week of April 13 - 20 and had an outstanding experience. Il Poggio is located in the midst of the Tuscan countryside adjacent to the village of Celle and a few kilometers from San Casciano dei Bagni. Upon arrival, we upgraded to a two bedroom, two bath apartment since the one-bedroom unit was not... More

Many complaints-- individually, no big deal, but so many... --Shabby. Overall the whole place is shabby, the paving stones need to be cleaned, things need painting. Our apartment shower had peeling paint, the clothes drying rack was rusty, the terrace was so unpleasant we didn't use it at all: the paving tiles were mildewed, the table was rusty and uninviting.... I soent 1 week at the residence Il Poggio in August 2012: excellent choice. The resort is located in a small town at the top of the hill, from where you can have a fantastic view of the south part of Tuscany. There is a swmming pool oudoor with all the facilities.n the resort you can buy typical local food,... More

Unlike other resorts in Tuscany, this is not your typical super-appointed and foreign-tourist-only place. Our apartment was comfortable, though, and efficient, and the working fire place, in this time of the year (December), with a steady supply of wood, was definitely a charming plus. Because of the season, we did not get to use any of the outdoor facilities, but... More

We discovered Il Poggio through an RCI timeshare exchange. It was love at first sight! Our two bedroom unit was sparsely furnished in povera Tuscan style, with terra cotta floors, iron headboards and double beds, two adequate bathrooms, a small, but well-equipped kitchen, dining area and a small patio that overlooked the rolling hills. The town's bell tower rang in... More

We weren't expecting total luxury but some of the furnishings and utensiles really do need updating. In saying that the staff were excellent and the swimming pools are really well appointed and in our experience were not busy, plenty of loungers. The views are indeed stunning. The billiard room is a nice place to escape the sun. The restaurant is... More

When we checked in and began speaking english we were handled indifferently as compared to the Italians around us who were checking in and greeted warmly. The one bedroom apartment we were given was furnished with furniture that was old and outdated and showed its wear. There was only a shower which was very small. The kitchen was also small... More

We have been there for lunch several times and the views are spectacular. Beautiful property and the staff could not be nicer.

We spent two weeks in Italy - one here and one south in a more tourist location. The combination made the best of Italy. Definately need a rental car. Don't even think of coming to this location without one. Check in was very easy. Getting here - not so much. Mainly because, despite emailing them for directions, I relied on... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
On a hill near the medieval town of Celle sul Rigo, between Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana, stands the Il Poggio Holiday Farm. The Farmhouse, the central building of the farm, offers a peerless view that spreads over Valle del Rigo, the Radicofani stronghold, Monte Amiata, Monte Cetona, up to Valle dell’Elvella which is bordered in perspective from the town of San Casciano dei Bagni. The Il Poggio buds from the join of two family farms grown up in the spirit of tradition.
