It purports to be a 4 star - but lacks 4 star amenities such as coffee making facilities, iron or trouser-press, air-con and Wi-Fi in the room. We stayed at the Waldesrand for 3 nights while moving to Herford. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a big bathroom and plenty of room for the 4 of us. “Only rating for dinner - not accommodation”

Really good food and VFM, thoroughly enjoyed it. The starters are huge - we should have shared one between two, because by the time the main course came along we were getting full already! Traditional German fayre, cooked well and presented well. Friendly staff, and really reasonable. Good wine selection - including our favourite, Montepulciano. Will definitely go back.

The position of the Hotel above herford means you get great views from the restaurant. The food is excellent could not fault it and the buffet breakfast has a good selection.
