We stayed one night to visit the local Medieval Christmas market. This is a small traditional hotel, lots of dark wood in the public areas, and we had a clean basic room, quiet, with a small elvator suitable for taking up luggage. (Still a few stairs, if that is an issue.) We requested parking, and got a spot right behind the hotel--very handy. We loved the location, as it was immediately adjacent the old town, and the Christmas markets. Esslingen market was probably our favourite in a 9-day trip, with lots of variety, traditional foods we didn't find elsewhere, and a great Medival section with games. There is also a shopping street right next to the hotel, and we had a wonderful kaffee und kuchen within sight of the hotel. I feel like Esslingen deserves more than the one day we gave it and I hope we return. Breakfast at the hotel was good, with quality offerings and sufficient variety in a nice room. As I was missing my own pets, I also absolutely loved the appearance of a s weet and calm resident dog around the front desk in the morning--these homey touches make small independent hotels special.

the hotel is situated at the border of the ancient town. The main station is 10 min walking, there's a parking garage 2 min away. The room, the sevice and the breakfast were satisfying. I'd recommend this hotel for a short stay.

It was perfect. It is near the old town und perfect for trips to the town. There you can visit a lot of sightseeing points. At the marketplace, there are a lot of locations for trinking a coffee or eat something. The service and the rooms were perfect. There was nothing left.

Esslingen isn't a household name but it has a fine centre with lots of impressive old buildings and you can also walk up to the castle which has good views over the Neckar valley. The Hotel am Schelztor is on the edge of the old town, within easy walking distance of various dining options. It's fairly basic but has comfortable rooms, free parking and offers a buffet breakfast with the room price. We got rooms at the back, which were quiet. A good idea to ask for this as there's traffic at the front of the hotel. We paid Euros 228 for two rooms for three people.

This small hotel is located on the edge of Old Town. Our room was simple but clean. There are a few steps up from the street into the lobby, but an elevator to the guest rooms. A typical and good breakfast buffet was included in the price. There is a small parking lot behind the hotel; you must reserve a space and there is a modest charge for overnight parking. The staff is pleasant but customer service is not a strength: we were not given a map of the town; when we asked for restaurant recommendations they just said there are many good restaurants; we had to pay cash the next morning because the credit card machine wasn't working. We enjoyed the town.

We were greeted very friendly have a long flight over the Atlantic. The desk receptionist gave us a review of the area and a map of what she recommended for our stay. The hotel is small and very peaceful. My room is plenty big enough for two guest but would be cramped for for more. We had a lovely breakfast our first morning in town. Only a few steps from my our hotel are MANY restaurants, cafes and shopping stores. All in all a great location to stay when visiting this area of German.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The check-in service was good. The receptionist took the time to explain to us the configuration of the Christmas Markets. We went to the second floor with our suitcases via the elevator. Our main room and bathroom were very clean! The shower was the perfect one where water doesn’t get all over the floor. As for parking, luckily, I had on the reservation receipt 2-night parking. With it being the busy Christmas season, hotel parking was almost full. We parked in the last space behind the hotel which shares it with the neighboring building. Unfortunately, though there is no entrance to the hotel from the parking lot. You must walk around to the front which isn’t too bad. We enjoyed the markets and the conveniences this hotel was near! We would stay here again.

I accompanied my husband on a recent business trip to Stuttgart and we stayed here as our base. Around a 20 minute drive from Stuttgart, this hotel has recently been renovated and offers simple but comfortable rooms with good size and quality bathroom. Ideally situated on the edge of the lovely Esslingen old town. Reasonable breakfast and you just step outside the front door and all that Esslingen has to offer is before you! I'm amazed that Esslingen isn't packed with tourists - somehow it seems to have escaped travel guides but it is a truly lovely place with centuries old buildings, lovely cafes and (for me!) several boutiques. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and am sure we will return next year. Highly recommended.
