We wanted an unusual B&B for a one night stay before visiting Monet's Garden. L'Hermitage is certainly that. The B&B rooms sit alongside the lovingly refurbished historic family residence - still far from finished, as Alain told us. We stayed in the spacious and comfortable "Birds Room", and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Ariane is a talented photographer, and her photos... More

Located about a mile from the centre of Vernon this is a two room B&B in a restored 16C house. Be careful with room choice; the Bird Room, a ground floor two double bed family room is very large and comfortable, on the first floor, Les Fleurs, which is cheaper, is half the size. The Bird Room was well equipped,... More

The breakfast fruit bowl summed up my experience at l’Hermitage: a few fabulous raspberries from their own garden; some sliced bananas; some unripe melon. The female owner even told us that the melon was not ripe: if it’s not ripe, why serve it? Why add blah bananas to those wonderful raspberries? {Just to fill the bowl? Give me the empty... More

We feel sad that you were disappointed by your stay with us at the Hermitage. Our little B&B is not a business for us, as we both have a job, but a way of opening our home, offering hospitality and sharing this old house we love with wonderful people. Our two rooms are very different. Many guests are very happy... More

This is one of the best B & Bs we have ever stayed in. Alain welcomed us with a drink and Adriene prepared a delicious breakfast. They have lovingly restored the building, and our room was so comfortable and interesting. It was our home away from home. We loved the antique furniture, original art pieces and freshly ironed linen on... More

If you are going to visit the area and Giverny you must stay here. Several years ago we visited Giverny and met Ariane as we hired her as a tour guide through Monet's home and gardens. Returning this year, we discovered that she and Alain had developed a Bed and Breakfast halfway between Vernon and Giverny. What a wonderful discovery!... More

We would thoroughly recommend a stay here, but if you intend staying one night, treat yourself to at least two or more. Alain and Ariane were fabulous hosts. It was raining when we arrived and Alain made us welcome with coffee? The heating was on in our room, which, despite it being June, was very much appreciated. The house and... More

Arianne and Alain were excellent hosts. One large room for parents and good room for us upstairs. Wish we could have had more time to stay a few more days. Great breakfast. Very close to Giverny and local restaurants.

My husband & I spent a night here, so we could check out Monet's gardens. A wonderful B&B - gorgeous old building, great room (try to get The Birds room - it's worth the few extra euros). It's about halfway between Vernon and Giverny - which is simply delightful. This way you get the peace and quiet of the countryside,... More

A very wet day indeed visiting the garden's at Giverny was put into perspective once we arrived at L'Hermitage. Alain's kind offer of tea and biscuits, a dry space and the luxury of a hot shower soon put the smile back on our faces. Comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and we were soon on our way. It was a perfect break... More

I have never been so comfortable - in my own home or a family member's home - as I was in Ariane and Alain's beautiful home. Writing in my journal while seated at a breakfast table full of croissants, fruit, cheeses, coffee, juice and yogurt while a perfectly formed, coral-colored rose greeted me on the other side of lace-covered curtains...I...
