This is one of the nicest, most relaxing places I have ever stayed in. Our hosts Adrian and Joke were unstinting with their time and advice. The food and conversation at dinner was one of our highlights in France. Adrian's knowledge of the Chateaux and especially the vinyards in the loire ensured we got to visit the places we most... more

We just returned from a fabulous trip to France with our children. We spent the first 3 days at Chateau de la Villaine and enjoyed every minute. The owners hospitality was comparable to a 5 star hotel. Both Adrian and Joke are extremely knowledgeable about the area; wineries, chateaux not to be missed, etc. They were also incredibly accommodating to... more

We stayed only one night, because the place was fully booked. I deeply regret that, and would like to stay here next time for a longer period of time. The chateau is charming. The hosts, Adriaan and Joke, are very outgoing and are there for you to make your vacation experience unforgettable. We had some really interesting conversations when having... more

We stayed two nights in this charming property with our two teenage daughters in April 2009 based largely upon the glowing TA reviews. It exceeded all of our expectations. The chateau is centrally located on the outskirts of Tours - a perfect location to tour the Loire Valley. The rooms are large and beautifully appointed with antiques. We were made... more

We stayed at the chateau with a group of friends for 2 nights. The chateau is on a gorgeous property located very conveniently outside of Tours. I've stayed at many B&Bs, but Adriaan and Joke were the friendliest, most helpful hosts I have come in contact with. The optional formal dinner was special and delicious. I hope to go back... more

We stayed at Chateau de la Villaine for our wedding anniversary. Adriaan and Joke were very welcoming. The dinners prepared by our hosts was delicious and a highly recommended option. The room we stayed in (Empire) was spacious with a huge, very comfortable bed and furniture that made you think you were staying in a stately home. You get to... more

Hosts Joke and Adriaan really make their guests feel welcome in their little château surrounded by green and just outside the quiet village of Esvres. Don't miss the dinner, it is delicious! more

G'day. If you're keen on staying at a chateau which has both enough space to explore outside and a warm and intimate feel inside, then check out Chateau de Villaine. My partner and I spent five nights there, and it was just what we were after. Our colourful hosts left us to our own devices when we favoured our own... more

Adrian & Yoke had carefully restored this chateau sensitively to retain its charm and yet comfortable, warm and welcoming.. .(it's an ongoing labour of love actually) We had a lovely 3 nights stay and Yoke prepared a wonderful meal on our first night. Wonderful food, wine and stimulating conversation.. lovely evening indeed. The chateau is also an excellent base to... more

We have just come back from a trip to the Chateaux of the Loire Valley. We stayed in the Chateau de la Villaine, and it made our trip even more memorable and special. De La Villaine is ideally situated in the heart of the Loire Valley, and you can drive to all the important castles in 30 minutes or less.... more
